I've had a theory for a while now about the universe. This theory is that if considering the universe is vast and infinite, there's a 100% chance of any idea to be possible. But that's flawed because we can't be incased in a marble AND be infinite at the same time. And there can't can and cannot be a God. But this is similar.
The theory came to mind when I saw the Transformers Movie not too long ago. If you recall, that whole incident with Unicron happens in 2005. So I figured on OUR 2005, I'm sure that some where a Cybertron is gonna have the Decpeticons be the ruling class and Brawn gets blasted away by the [censored] Megatron-gun.
In relation, I thought that if the Transformer thing were true, then maybe in a galaxy far, far away there might be some Rebel-on-Empire action goin' on. Now it's in our system.
We're boned.
Also, does our sun have a name?

Ah but you forget. It was far, far away but it happened a long time ago. Hence "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..."

Subby - The Name of the Sun
Scientists use the name of the Sun in whatever language they happen to be talking or writing. So, the Sun is called "Sun" in English speech or writing, "Sonne" in German, "Soleil" in French, "Zon" in Dutch, "Helios" in Greek, "Sol" in Latin, Spanish, and Swedish, "Grian" in Irish, and "Haul" or "Huan" in Welsh.
I hope this helps /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

You know if there is something in particular that you want to reply to, you can copy and paste it and place it in your post using the lovely 'Instant UBB Codes' that are found almost directly below where you type in the reply box. Its not only a functional tool, but it also saves webspace. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

So let me get this straight; the name of the star in the center of our solar system is Sun. Translated or otherwise.
That's bullshit. We should call it Presnilahurfosas! That sounds pretty bad ass.
Calling it Sun-- It's like naming God... God.
This is my Boston Terrier. His name is Dog.
I just got a kick ass Catamaran the other day. I'm naming her Boat.
I hate that!

You know, you are not as smart as you think you are. Get back to reality and people will start (maybe) taking you seriously.
Just the facts Maam, just the facts.
How about we call it Hilda, just for you Subby. "Hilda is shining brightly today." you can say. But remember not to look at Hilda through a telescope boys and girls. It's dangerous. The only question might be, what object would be large enough to blot out Hilda at that well known spacial phenomenon, the Hilda eclipse? Ho Ho!

The thing that you're missing is that the sun is a star...so, we call "our" star sun. Its name is sun.
This is getting confusing.
Any Astronomonomonmers here who can sort this out? /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif
yes kids its a moon. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif
