I went into work the other day and sat in the little office we have. I looked inside the inbox and found what appeared to be a newsletter sent out to Hollywood inc. employees every quarter. Inside, was a small article of to the side which said that Tim Burton is directing a new Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory movie starring Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka. It sounds pretty bad ass. I'm just wondering if he'll use Danny Elfman for the music.

Yeah, we explored this topic a few months ago in a thread that's now pretty far down the list. I think we ended up concluding that oompa loompas either kick ass or are the product of an LSD induced nightmare or both.

I thought I posted this topic when I first started reading it. Confused the hell out of me. I was like "HEY! WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE!" Because I precisely remember posting on a topic about Willy Wonka(I might of started it, I don't remember). Anyway, *cough*.

Look at the kid playing Charlie.

Is Charlie supposed to look this young? (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0383603/)

danny elfman would be perfect for that film , he does some of the best theme music in the biz.
i know a guy named jim who would be great as an oompa loopa. hes 4" 6' and he tried out for lord of the rings as a hobbit. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

He looks too much like James from James & the giant Peach.

He looks like a kid who's in elementary school. If I'm not mistaken, Charlie was in middle school, right?

That picture might be old, though.

The kid was born in 92, so that makes him 12. I think this would put him in the 6th grade, which is the first year of Middle School.

I've never actually seen James and the Giant Peach. Is it as good as The Nightmare Before Christmas?

as far as animation goes yes, as far as the action or plot no

I really dug it. I loved the book as a kid, and was quite happy with the movie.

Then you obviously know about this....

In Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Willie Wonka mentions licking snozberries. What most people don't know is that in one of Dahl's adult books, snozberry is a euphamism for penis. He was slipping dirty humor into a kid's book for his private amusement.

"...The snozberries taste like snozberries..." "What's a snozberry?"

"My Uncle Oswald" is the book that has "Snozberry" as a slang term for the penis.

Sorry about that. However, Dahl never really intended for it to be a children's story. Well, that is what they say anyways.

I was watching Willy Wonka on tv last and it had been years. At the end of the movie Willy says "Good day, sir. I said Good Day" which is of course what Fez says all the time in thta 70s show and Fez has that thing about candy...hmmm...anyone else notice this or is this just a known fact and I'm a dumbass for not knowing/realizing it sooner?

willy wonka is one of my better child hood memories. i was a willy wonka freak. its one of those movies thats truely for the ages. im not so sure if i will see this new one. it might really ruin a good thing for me. im not saying johnny depp isnt a good actor or a bad choice for the part of mr. wonka. but im so accustomed to the version i've seen i dont think i'd take to well to a new version.
