by far the best suicide moment was in old time movice AN OFFICER AND A GENTELMEN. Richard Gere's friend find out his girl lied about being preg. so that she could get him to marry her cause she had wanted to marry a Navel Officer. Her shitty luck is that he decided that to best take care of her was to quit the navy and still marry her.
So heartbroken the poor guy goes to the hotel that they always had sex in and got the same room that hey had always had. And hung himself by his own belt.
What i liked about it was that he didn't cry like a baby saying stupid movies shit. He made is decison and seemed to accept that it was it for him. Even laughed with the hotel manager.
whats you fave suicide moment?
.

I liked when Sam blew his brains out in the final episode of "Cheers".

Hartman: "What is your major malfunction, numbnuts? Didn't Mommy and Daddy show you enough attention when you were a child?"

Private Pyle shoots Hartman

Joker: "Take it easy man."

Pyle sits on the John then blows his brains out.

Mine would probably be in The Patriot, when that guy finds his wife and son dead. You can see it coming but it happens so fast and hits the audience really hard at the same time. Powerful stuff.

This is a grim thread /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif

Roses and daisies and wispy clouds in a brilliant blue sky.

There, that image should lift the feel a bit

Shawshank Redemption when that old bloke gets out after what probably seemed to him like 3 centuries banged up and can't take life on the outside and hangs himself in the Halfway House. The point of it being that Morgan Freeman then gets released and goes to the same place and does the same part-time job filling supermarket bags. You just get the feeling he'll top himself too.

Dammit, dude, that's my favorite suicide! Shawshank is the awesome.

This is an awfully morbid thread and suicide should not be glorified. That being said there are some memorable moments in film. The ones that come to mind off the top of my head are in Dead Poet's Society, the Virgin Suicides, Shawshank and Girl Interrupted.

Martha "Dumptruck" Dunstock in Heathers. For as dark and funny as that movie was, that scene was so key in grounding the reality of it all.

What about the devils advocate when the girl is holoucinating till the point she cant take it anymore. That was quite powerful as you felt for her because it was out of her control

sorry about my holoucinating attempt to spell holoucinating

Good point. Have we learned nothing from "Heathers"?

"Whether or not a teenager decides to kill themselves is the biggest decision of their life."

Gosh I forgot how may people killed themself in movies. Ever seen that movie RULES OF ATTRATION stared that Dowsen Vanderbeck guy who played this really twisted college guy. That one girl who was all obsessed with him dose it classicly naked in the tube. Slices her wrist. I had another one on my mind but I forgot. HEE

The Hudsucker Proxy all the way. When Hudsucker gets up on that table and runs straight out that window, smiling and laughing the whole way down... perfect. And Newman's reaction is priceless.

I completely forgot about Hudsucker.

Randy Quaid in Independence Day.
Natalie Portman in Heat.

It's not technically suicide, but I loved the ending of Seven. I'm leaving out the details for those who haven't seen it.

What was the line?

"When's the naked street not naked? When it's Wearing Hudsucker!"

I guess two that stick out to me would be ... "Omen 3 The Final Conflict", because it was so intricate, and " Permanent Record " because it was so senseless.

80's movies.

How about the Tommy Lee Jones character in Space Cowboys who launched himself at the moon on a massive nuclear rocket? Now that's one BIG way to punch your own card /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Butterfly Effect is the only movie I can think of in which I enjoyed the theatrical cut better than the director's cut.

What about Pyle in "Full Metal Jacket"?

I guess I was a little vague in using quotes from the movie, instead of just saying it.

south park: bigger, longer, and uncut...when kenny burned himself to death by trying to light a fart on fire. well idk if that really counts as suicide.

The best is the faked suicide in Heathers where the two football stars are killed! Just because the police find perrier water (if that's how you spell it) they assume they're gay, they don't even read the note.
