Just saw it tonight. Didn't really ride the coat tails of the Bourne Identity. I liked the who "cat and mouse" feel to it. I give it an 8/10.

With the exception of the kind of slow beginning, I really liked the movie.
When I watched it this afternoon, the big plot twist in it had everyone in the audience saying..."What? No way." As far as the rest of the story line, I like that the Bourne character wasn't the typical invincible character that doesn't seem to ever be affected by anything.
I thought the casting was right on too. I wasn't too familiar with most of the actors, but they all seemed to hit it dead on. Matt Damon has definitely surpassed Ben Affleck in the action category. Well, in my own opinion anyways.
Oh, I almost forgot. I didn't really buy the Julia Stiles' character as a tough guy type character when they first showed her. Of course, when her character turned into a scared, snivelling, whatever, it seemed to be believable.

Hey! Isn't it time for Ben Affleck to expand his choice of roles and play another guy who falls for a lesbian?

I liked it a lot. My only real complaint with "Supremacy" was that the camera work was sometimes annoying. Jiggly cameras during action scenes are one thing but they started jiggling them during quiet reflective scenes too. Bleah. Still, a cool movie. In fact, I think there's a lot to be said for the European spy/crime genre.

I loved it... but the jiggling camera thing WAS too much. I don't know what made the filmmakers think that it helped the movie.

First off, I would like to know if the person controlling the camera actually sat there and jiggled it during action sequences. Because I look at the Bourne Identity, the camera was still during fight scenes. Is there really any reason to jiggle it during scenes of hand to hand combat? I suppose it's understandable for car chases and stuff.

Where is your second point? You can't just say "first off" and then have only one point. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Secondly, I'd like to draw attention to my first point....

No, I presented the topic of question in the first sentence with "First off." The second point I made (which I didn't feel the need to say "second off" or "second of all" because that sounds retarded) was presenting my argument against the topic. The last few sentences were supporting sentences to my argument.

Sorry, but your first point was your only point.

I think you can put all that shaky stuff in during post-production.

I think during the stunts the camera was possibly zoomed in but still hand held, creating an ultra shaky visual. Besides, during most of the scenes in the movie the camera man was still trying to hold the camera relatively still. You'd be suprised how hard it is to keep a heavy film camera still without steadicam.
As for the film, I'd have to rate it as average. I enjoyed the first a lot more, it was the anti-hollywood film with competent action and all the great dialogue wasn't over the phone. Supremacy had too many phone conversations which got annoying. Also, Julia Stiles, who really broke her mold for these movies, was more convincing as an agent in the first, while she kinda wusses out in this one.
Okay, and even though the camera work has been discussed to death, I'll still address it because it's on my chest, damnit. I actually applaud the DP for doing something so radical, but the results are anything but impressive. The camera work is just so distracting that it takes me out of the movie's world. The film could've been called the Bourne Documentary. During the final climatic chase scene, the camera is so shaken that they could've been using toy cars, because I couldn't make out anything. Add in over editing that cuts before you can even comprehend what you're looking at (besides multiple blurs), and the action scenes are almost worthless.
