Very exciting stuff that Matt Stone and Trey Parker have made another film, this time using the subtle art of the marionette puppet to corrupt our minds. I am anxious to learn everything I can about this film, but mainly, HAVE THEY PUT OUT A TRILER? OR EVEN A TRAILER!

I hope this movie doesn't suck.

Why are the Thunderbirds cool to make of fun of now? We have those Orbitz commercials, Team America, and if the movie tanks (I hope it doesn't but it looks... eh), that'll be the biggest insult of all. Perhaps puppets have been out of the lime light too long. It's time for a Muppets Renaissance!!

I think Matt and Tre were mostly motivated to do this because the Thunderbirds movie went live-action instead of using the marionettes that made the show what it was. It sounds like they are going to try and breakdown a Hollywood that takes itself that seriously.
Cool with me.

I saw the Team America panel on Saturday. They showed the trailer and two clips from the movie. It looked hysterical. They looked tired.
They said they would never do another marionette/puppet movie ever again. Said they have something like 42 takes of the one walking across the room and taking a shot. The cup never connected not even close enough for them to cut away.
They also said they wanted to start the movie off with a really bad looking marionette and cheesy background so everyone would worry about what they were about to watch. Unfortunately, it was the first thing they shot and the first thing Paramount saw and they FREAKED until they were explained that it was a joke to open the movie.
They looked tired. They looked more tired than when they were trying to do Baseketball and South Park at the same time. They were very funny as was the clips. I can't wait.

So had they just finished shooting the movie?

No, they are still shooting. They are trying to get it done before they start the next season of South Park.

I was recently scolded by Paramount for my script review (http://www.moviepoopshoot.com/onehand/110.html) last week. I loved it -- so damn funny. Hope the movie is as good as the script, which I fully expect it wil be.

If you don't want to wait for his response here, he talks about it in this week's One Hand Clapping. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I'm getting to go to the set tomorrow to check it out. I'm going on my lunch hour. The company that is doing it does a lot for our company so my boss hooked me up.
w00t!
I will post a full report. I'm not going until 2p so it'll be later tomorrow.

I'd be more jealous if I wasn't sporting my Team America t-shirt right now, but I'm still pretty jealous.

I had so much fun. I was there for an hour and a half. I got to stand three feet behind Trey and watch him direct. Matt Stone spoke to me. He tripped over a chair I was standing next to and said "I'm sorry." to which I replied "No problem." It was great!
They were shooting three units at once. The sets looked amazing. I talked with a bunch of people some had only been there a little while since they were replacements. They are three weeks past schedule with another week to shoot.
I'm not sure if the scene I saw will be in the movie. It might have been something that they are putting in to offer to cut out to bring them down from an NC-17 to an R. I talked to the puppeteer who pulled the pants down and the other pupeteer who lowered the head. That's all I'm going to say about that.
The shot the explosions last week but they said the test looked better than what they shot. They might do it again if they can.
I just had such a great time. The guy who took me kept intorducing me as the South Park historian which was funny because I actually answered all of the stumpers questions. I didn't realize I knew that much about them until questioned.
It was so cool.

Ah, the wonders of puppet sex. It'll be like Crank Yankers, except funny.

This movie is going to make the original 1964-1966 TV series gain a stupid reputation. There are a lot of changes that you can see from the trailor. In the trailor I saw Lady Penelope rideing in a pink ship, I thought it was a pink Rolls Royce. And the actors for this film were poorly chosen, accept what looked like Ben Kingsly for The Hood. I'll give the movie a go, but I doubt I'll enjoy it.
