Definately a big Roll Tide to you guys. I'll put up with the War Eagle bit too, SEC in the house. If you guys thought that the politics threads got bad, i think conference/state rivalries could get even worse.
First game of the season:
Aug. 28 Sat. Southern California vs VA Tech 7:45 p.m. ESPN

wooohooooo Go ermmmmmm who's playing?????
Well that first game is defending AP National Champ's Southern Cal Trojans vs. the Virginia Tech Hokies of the Newly Beefed up Atlantic Coast Conference.
I expect USC to win by Double digits, althought Va Tech is no pushover.

I'm not really an Auburn fan. I just said that because he is a Tide fan.
I am actually a Huskies fan. Oh, that is a University of Washington Huskies fan. Not those other Huskies who are lame.

Oh, don't worry. Your posts are far too well thought out, spelled and punctuated to be an Auburn fan. /forums/images/icons/smirk.gif
I just thought Dave would appreciate the joke.

Now my darling Zens, just because you have moved to Longhorn country, doesn't mean you should give up you're ties to the Northern Illinois Huskies. And we'll see how you do in 2007 when we face again! with new Alabama Head Coach (insert coaches name here).
Oh, and watch for Arkansas to upset Texas yet again.

Oh, I didn't even know there was a Northern Illinois Huskies. Never heard of them before. I was referring to the UCONN Huskies.

NIU was last season's "We're undefeated, but we aren't getting any respect from the media, but we should be in a BCS game...oops we just lost to a crappy team" team. And if I am not mistaken, it is also Zens' alma mater.
It was the media.

Ah, I see. So, if during the College season, I can say....GO HUSKIES! and Zens shouldn't get mad as she can think I mean her Huskies and not mine. Even though I will be talking about mine, of course.

[/ QUOTE ] Dear God help me. My boy-toy did his undergrad at Arkansas and he must be as pre-season psycho as you. All last week he kept trying to teach me how to "call the hogs" and talking about Razorback this and that (which I find fun for a whole different reason that you guys understand, right RB?). This was a) disturbing and b) an thinly veiled attempt at indoctrination.
As for you RATM, you are forgiven. JJ gives it a good coverage...we were a total fluke and that is why it was so funny to all the alum. No one, and I do mean no one, even went to football games at NIU. The didn't win a single game one year that I attended. I just wanted to ruffle up Dave a little, out of love, of course /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif

Have you guys seen that ESPN commercial with the couple making out on the couch ? One's wearing a MICHIGAN sweater, the other is wearing OHIO STATE ( I think ? ) So the commercial is like thirty seconds of them making out hot & heavy, then the words come up on screen ,
" Without sports, this wouldn't be digusting. "

I think that one aired during last year's NCAA Football season too. It was hilarious.

Yeah, that commercial is awesome. That's one of the things that really fuels the Michigan State side of the MSU/U of M rivalry -- the fact that Ohio State is by far U of M's big rival. MSU is like the little bastard stepchild team who keeps trying to get daddy's attention.
I'm pretty sure it was '97 when I was in Columbus with some friends for the Wolverines vs. Buckeyes. That game always seems to decide major things every year which is a huge factor in the rivalry. We watched the game at a frat house and then roamed the streets that night. Michigan had just held out against Ohio State in the last quarter and we got our victory.
There was much celebrating, much vocal rejoicing.......and much almost-dying in a pizza parlor.

Since this is a football discussion, let me pose a question: "Ricky Williams...complete idiot, or complete idiot?"

As a Dolphins fan I'd have to say...Ricky who? Mr. Williams is dead to me. I rend my shirt in protest, which, now that I give it some thought, I guess makes me the complete idiot.
Objectively, maybe Ricky is brilliant. He's young, injury-free, unfettered by dreadlocks, and should be cash-heavy enough to enjoy himself proper......selfish, one-way bastard. Et tu, Ricky?

I think he has the right to say fuck it and take off from the sport in general. What I think is really crappy for you guys is his timing. It is akin to not giving proper two weeks notice at your regular job. Have some respect for your teammates?

When you're right, you're right. And you're right. He should've done that at the end of last season, or at least sooner than this. Within the last month there were some really decent backs looking for a new home, too. The timing is just horrible. Could be a tough season for the fish.

I definitely ain't no Dolphins fan, but the way I see it, he did this so his friend will be the shoe-in as the starting RB. There is practically no time for them to go a shoppin'. With regards to that, he is an [censored]. As far as retiring goes, who cares. He is just gonna spend all of his money on drugs anyways and end up destitute on the street somewhere.

Now I am getting excited. I am going to the Ark. vs. Texas game on 9/11, Ark. v. Old Miss in Nov, and ....
yes Dave...
Ark. v. Bama on the 25th. UH OH!
Rock!!! I may have to take my first trip to Fayetteville this year.
I'll be interested to see how you like SEC football. I think you find the fans are more rabid than any others. By the way, its Ole Miss, and look for the Rebels to be the Sleeper team this year in the SEC West. No Eli Manning, yet they are returning all of their offensive line. New QB Spurlock will have mucho protection while he warms up to the college game. On the other hand, The Razorbacks were desimated after last year losing almost all of their starters, look for a long season there, although i still stand by the claim of an upset over Texas. A loss to Ark. will probably cost Mack Brown his job. And speaking of Texas schools, lets hope that Dennis Franchione goes 4 & 7 this year agian at A&M.
Bitter much? you bet!
