Hello Ladies & Gentlmen, Boys & Girls, Children of all ages (not that anyone that young should even be here.)
It's Banstick Decision 2004!
It has come to pass that these are dark times my friends. Our fearless and benevolent leader will be dividing his attention from our presence. And yet, in his partial Absence, we bear witness to a new threat. Our boards are being over run with newbies! We need another to stand the fight against those that will call us "ball lickers!" Somoene serious, somone serious with an eye to detail, I know who is capable of such a feat.
Who shall defend us, who's got our back when we can't look over our shoulder, who will put right ll that goes wrong, who will wield the Almighty Banstick?
The Nominations have been set. FanGirl and Karmattack are running for the candidacy of Banstick authoritah! However, who's authoritah we respect will be entirely up to you my friends at the end of the day.
Campaigning will last the remainder of this week, beginning July 7, 2004 and ending Sunday, July 11, 2004. The poles will officially open Monday, July 12 and stay open until Friday, July 17, 2004.
That's all, Stay vigilant Fellow Poopshooters
Viva La Resistance!

Thank you, Omaru. It is with great pride that I accept my nomination for the candidacy. It is my hope, Dear Poop Shooters, that we can keep our boards safe for those of us who call it home. In times when our board security could so easily come into question, I promise to humbly lend my services to you, The People, in a fair and just manner. If you let me help you clean up the boards and maintain the atmoshpere we've grown accustomed to, I promise to do it with courage, honor, diligence, pride, resolve, and absolutely distilled hatred for stupid Newbies.
Thank you. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

From my understanding, the nominations are already in order. There might be an Independant open for serious nomination.

I accept this nomination and hope that I can pursuade my fellow shooters to give me the power to protect you from those that clutter our boards with repetitive posts calling us names and demeaning our way of life here at moviepoopshoot.com.

Okay, so, these three questions for both of you.
1. I hold firmly the belief that, what seperates a good Noob from a bad Noob is intent. How do you feel about your abilities to recognize a troll ? To tell the difference between someone who hasn't been typing very long and someone who's just trying to F*ck things up ? To tell the difference between someone who really needs Psychological help and someone who is just kidding around ?
1.a) And what is your criteria for making these judgements ? ( use examples if needed. )
2.What is the real difference between the two of you ? You both plan to rid us of Noobtards , but how do you feel your style and ability differs from your opponents ? Are there issues that need to be addressed ? Pros and cons ?
3. If there is a soundtrack to your campaign, what three songs would definitely be on it ?

And what do you plan to do about my theory that most of these newbs are actually the same person who has been creating accounts in order to troll and discuss the eye color of 80s sitcom characters since the old boards?

1. I hold firmly the belief that, what seperates a good Noob from a bad Noob is intent. How do you feel about your abilities to recognize a troll?
I am quite confident in my abilities to categorize a troll. Obviously, the first post speaks volumes -- whether or not they introduce themselves and post something relevant. Also, whether or not their first post includes the phrase "ball-lickers" and something about eating shit and shitting out shit that was eaten. As we all know, a message board without trolls is like a picnic without ants -- a beautiful thought, but it's just not realistic. What separates a troll from everyone else is their lack of ability to be reasoned with, to feel shame for hurtful actions, or to be beaten mercilessly into conformity. Not that we......would...uhh......ever........condone the last one. This means that, after a few fair warnings and some helpful guidance, if the newb or troll doesn't express remorse or a change of intent, they have called down and received the banstick thunder.
...To tell the difference between someone who hasn't been typing very long and someone who's just trying to F*ck things up ?
Good question, Wingman. I beleve its quiet simple to confuse teh to. Mainly, what I would look for is consistancy in teh, I mean the, mistakes. Someone who hasn't had much experience typing or writing might make mistakes with spelling, punctuation and spacing but they will be slight, usually sparce, and also consistent. It's tough to I.D. a fake. Now, a clever fake would not use proper capitalization in his own posts, because he would know that only a great fool would overlook that mistake. I am not a great fool, so I can clearly not overlook that mistake. But they must have known I was not a great fool, and would have counted on it, so I clearly must overlook that mistake. Am I finished? Not remotely! Because improper use of capitalization usually comes from a poor Canadian education, as everyone knows. And Canada is entirely peopled with Canadians. And Canadians are used to having people not trust them as they are not trusted by me, so I can clearly not overlook the mistake. I assure you, however that they will fall victim to one of the great Poop Shoot blunders, the most famous of which is "Never get involved in a movie scoop debate with Dmoney", but only slightly less well known is this: "Never go in against a Regular, when the POOP SHOOT is on the line.". Hahahahaha...[collapses]
...To tell the difference between someone who really needs Psychological help and someone who is just kidding around ?
Well, I see this as kind of a moot point; neither Gorefollower, nor Psychofiend seem to post here anymore.
1.a) And what is your criteria for making these judgements ? ( use examples if needed. )
I believe I answered that, but let me know if I haven't.
2.What is the real difference between the two of you ?
I am clearly the more experienced and qualified candidate.
You both plan to rid us of Noobtards , but how do you feel your style and ability differs from your opponents ?
Honestly, I think there is a big difference. HUGE difference. "What is that difference Karma?" you might be asking yourself. My friends and colleagues, it is a vast difference.
Are there issues that need to be addressed ?
I guess that all depends on the magazine, now, doesn't it? Is it a swimsuit issue? Address it to me.
Pros and cons ?
I believe there is only a slight difference between "Pros" and "cons." Many pros ARE cons. Sometimes a pro is just a pro and then becomes a con, or vice versa. Sometimes a pro will hire a con to become a better pro. Though, it boils down to this: Pros should receive a salary cap. Cons should be banned from Movie Poop Shoot.
3. If there is a soundtrack to your campaign, what three songs would definitely be on it ?
"Revolution" by The Beatles, "Bulls On Parade" by Rage Against the Machine, and either "No Surrender" by Bruce Springsteen or "Puff, The Magic Dragon" by Peter, Paul and Mary.
And what do you plan to do about my theory that most of these newbs are actually the same person who has been creating accounts in order to troll and discuss the eye color of 80s sitcom characters since the old boards?
This is not a theory, Threadkiller, but a dreadful reality. Many regulars, including myself, have uncovered this dastardly plot and have done our best to put it to an end. Until now, our efforts are mainly comprised of name-calling and on-spot exposure of the troll's scheme, which often yield pleasant, if mixed, results. Yet, there are those who linger and circle us like sharks WAITING to post a forum about Blossom's eye color versus that of Nancy McKeon's. With your help, and your votes, I will dispatch savory justice upon the soiled asses of those in question.
Thank you. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

What is your position on the "House of 1000 Corpses" issue. Should the thread be kept as bait for the odd lurkers, or should it be cast off to protect us all.

What is your position on the "House of 1000 Corpses" issue. Should the thread be kept as bait for the odd lurkers, or should it be cast off to protect us all.
This is a tough issue the way I see it. Using the thread to bait lurkers hasn't proven effective, at least to my knowlege. Yet deleting the thread means deleting many poignant and quality posts from some of our current and past regulars. The thread itself doesn't contain anything that would warrant deletion. Though it would be a tempting and easy way to smoke a few evil lurkers out of their threads, I don't think we could warrant that action at this time, especially without proper U.B. (United Boardmember) sanctions. What I would like to do is appoint a security advisory council. From there, we will form and dispatch a coalition of the willing to locate, acquire, and interrogate the perpetrators of this heinous lurking. Though, I must admit I have a sneaking suspicion that dirtydog22 died from a blood-pressure issue after a combination of reading apollolove's response to his post and forgetting how to login. This may have rendered him dead in his basement, next to his computer, left to lurk for eternity. Anonymous.
AND...What about the children!?!
Oh, banned instantly. Shouldn't they be busy sewing GAP clothing anyway? Ehh. Let them eat cake.
I did say cake right? Yes, cake.

Thank you Matthew! It has long been said that I come from a long line of a cunning bunch of runts! ...or was that a running bunch of cu un ...uh oh. Nevermind.
So what the heck. I have to go away for a couple of weeks because of an emergency, I come back, and the damn demorepubpoopshoot convention has already happened and I got schmacked back to Ralph Nader territory. You know, the land of "you can try to run now but you could just stay home and drink very strong Bikinitinis and act like the whole race never existed".
Having slept with both of the canidates at various times I feel both have the necessary skill and equipment, but I am not sure they can leave the board feeling satisfied at the end of the term. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

What ended up happening was Ryall was considering, when he thought there might be a little less time for him on the boards, giving one of us some authority [that came out of FanGirl and I joking around about campaigning for it when Smurfy nominated her and Razorback nominated me]. He since realized it's not necessary because he, Tipton and Ming still have it under control like before, and I'm assuming it would probably be more trouble than good figuring out how to give one of us partial authority.
Ah well. It was fun while it lasted. And thank you, and the rest of you for the support. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Fan Girl still leading in the polls, by a narrow margin looks to edge Karma in the race for banstick wielder. A chief spokesperson from the Karma camp says " Let's not forget. There are still alot of votes to be counted before the polls close on friday." While urging those who have not voted to do so.
During an interview on the last leg of her campaign trail, Fangirl could be described as " bouncing-off-the-walls like raquet ball", and "tired but happy. " When asked how she would celebrate if the early results hold , she replied " I'm goin' to Comicon ! "
Pundits are questioning " Why are we called pundits ? We don't like that name. " and speculating about how the third party reception of a small percentage of the votes could cost Karma the election. " It's just like that whole Nader thing, all over again. " they said. Though leading political analysts puffed up and acted important saying " America loves the underdog. We are a country "
But then I stopped lstening to them after that because they were getting booor-ing.
