That's one of the trailers that Chris Stipp talks all about in this Friday's TRAILER PARK column, too. I expected it to be awful, but it wasn't so bad.

Yeah, I really thought it was going to suck. But hey, I love to be proved wrong.

Yeah, I'm wondering how they're going to explain Bishop being in it ?

Either they're really screwing up the timeline, or I am being nitpicky.

The movie looks as I expected it to be... Jason X with a bigger budget.

Perhaps he's playing another character. But you guys are right, it looks pretty good.

Even in just the short clips, the Predators looked more like guys in Predator suits than the legit species they were in the previous movies. Sadly, that actor passed away. I'm expecting to watch this then promptly forget it ever existed.

Jean Claude Van Dam passed away?

Kevin Peter Hall (http://dangerseekers.tripod.com/SALUTE/id4.html)

And yeah, that's the original Danger-Seeker site, still floating on Tripod with articles I forgot to move over. Oops.

Ohhh, the other Preditor. who would have thought that that ugly thing would be married to a sweetheart like Sesame Streets Olivia.

Well Predator 2 was by no means a great movie, I watched both recenty, and as a kid I always like 2 more because it seemed more substancial, but now the predatpr seems too un-predatory in his actions. I guess different predators have their own killing styles

There's these featurettes on the AVP website that provide some pretty good behind the scenes material, stuff that'll probably end up on the eventual DVD. Anyway, in one of them the guy who plays Bishop explains his appearance, which is actually kind of clever. He's one of the sponsors for the expedition, and his money comes from his successful robotics company. So, in time, it will be his company that produces the future Bishop robot, all of which are modeled after the appearance of the entreprenuer.

So wait a minute, This takes place before Alien.

I haven't seen the latest trailer (dial up makes all video not worth downloading), but as far as I know the movie takes place during the present. Remember, the Predator movies took place during the present but still showed the existence of the Alien. Besides, it would be pretty sad if 300 years in the future we still haven't found some giant temple in Antartica.

Wait, it's going to take place in Antarctica and involves ancient alien temples? This smacks of Lovecraft rip-off.

Cool , I s'pose that adds up.. But wait, in Alien 3 wasn't that supposed to be the actual guy, Bishop was modeled after , the one telling Ripley " There's so much we can learn from it. " ? I didn't like 3 much, consequently I only saw it twice, but that's who he was, if memory serves.

I thought that too.

Any-who, AVP2 looks alot better. It's W. S Anderson free, so that's a great start already. Although I detest the first film, this trailer (http://www.terrorfeed.com/index.php?id=avp-requim-trailer)looks pretty neat.

Ah yes, the trailer tells me this may be slightly gorier than the PG-13 effort of last time around.

Now we just need the rumoured uncut release of Die Hard 4 on dvd

Absolutely! There's a good movie under all those embarrassing, clunky cuts. I can't wait to see it.
