It was great!!! I thought that some of the acting was a bit off, but easily overlooked. I thought the story was great and the effects were even better. It was captivating. If you liked Pitch Black you'll love this. If you thought the only part of Pitch Black that was cool was Riddick you'll really love this. Even if you didn't like Pitch Black you might still like this. Anyway I was impressed. I went into the movie with low expectations, this might be why I enjoyed it so much. I hope you guys get to see it and most of all, I hope that those who do see it enjoyed it as much as I did.

Dude, it has Vin Diesel in it. I mean you had to see that comin' . Didn't ya ?

I hate Vin Diesel . No wait . I [censored] despise and loathe that monkey-faced [censored]. Ahh, no one looks like a great thespian in an action flick. Have you seen "Iron Giant"? I found his performance to be quite sensitive. And it's animated so you don't have to look at his monkey face.

But if you do hate him, you might want to watch "Saving Private Ryan":

*spoiler*

He dies in that. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

I like Vin Diesel. He has the perfect kind of action star charisma. Not Shakespearian by any means, but a worthy heir to the legacy of Arnold.

Don't know if I'll be checkin' out Chronicles though. Looks kinda like doo-doo.

From what I have read, the theatrical release is the dumbed down version of the movie. I will wait for the directors cut DVD.

I love Pitch Black...and I feel like the only person in the world without a problem with Vin Diesel so I'm really looking forward to this movie. I would have seen it opening night if I could. I'm guessing I'll go next weekend if I can find the spare minutes.

I feel the same way... the only reason I didn't see it opening night is because it was sold out by the time my dumb ass friends and I got there.

HP3 is great. Go see it.

So you went to see Riddick? Did you like it or no?

Harry Potter was good. My only problem with it was the Dumbledorph switch. I didn't care for the new guy. Everything else was great. Another very good movie. I still have to say as much as I enjoyed the Harry Potter movie, I thought Riddick was a lot better. Mainly because its geared for adults but mostly beacuse I just didn't want it to end. As I said before its captivating.

I watched van helsing with a friend, and since then I almost feel like it's a reason to stop being friends with my friend based on different tastes in movies alone. It's been building up for a while now, so next time I go to the cinema, I'll go by myself and watch something I actually want to see like HP3. I think I needmore friends.

<font color="purple">I didn't see a movie that night. I in turn went to my friends house, attempted to watch 'Lost In Translation.' I fell asleep. I've already seen it before, so I didn't loose from falling asleep during the movie.

I did see the 'Stepford Wives' today. Make good movies Yoda does.</font color>

The same exact thing happened to me. I suggested going to the movies with my friends and they all wanted to see Van Helsing. At first I thought they were seeing it because not much else was out, but when I saw the excitement in their eyes I wondered which movie they thought they were seeing. They must have been waiting for this movie to come out, like they had these huge expectations. I had extremely low expectations which made the film bearable.

As for Vin Diesel, I've only seen him in Saving Private Ryan, Pitch Black, and The Iron Giant. He gives stellar performances in those and that's why I like him. For everyone who was stupid enough to see 'XXX' (c'mon, the trailer was this big warning sign, kinda like the Van Helsing trailer) or any other crap he's been in, I'm sorry. But the films where he's good, he's great (like frosted flakes, except frosted flakes aren't all that great).

I had a similar experience with a mate of mine a few years ago when he talked me into seeing Dude, Where's my Car. He laughed so loudly i had to see it again to find out what i didn't hear the first time ( the whole [censored] movie ). I wish i hadn't. Although he loved El Mariachi and Battle Royale so i'm not sure if i should still consider him in my 'Don't watch a film with this guy' list.

I had a friend who actually liked A walk to Remember. I found that it was better to just kill people like this. Then you know you won't have to deal with there horrible taste again.

Just saw it. I thought it was great, which was especially satisfying because I thought most of the trailers sucked.

First off, the action sequences are all done very well, but, and this is a rarity, most actually feel fresh. The rapid cuts express the calimity without being confusing and annoying - like they usually are, and just when the sound effects would get repetative, they're flatly cut out, allowing an excellent score to string the emotion. It's all pretty epic, but, and this is what the trailers don't convey at all, it never gets unbearably farcical because it remains a story about people instead of multi-million dollar effects (although they play a great supporting role). Vin's performance helps ground it in this fashion, but the Riddick character isn't quite as meaty as it was in Pitch Black and the best insight we get is actually from supporting roles, which I thought were all great, despite the lack of big names. In fact, I hope the series' trademark of smaller names, bigger effects continues, this is one of the few instances in a genre of sequels, prequels, and spin-offs that I've seen a completely new sci-fi world unfold, well, one that was worth watching.

Anyway, it's good, go see it. Nothing like XXX, which I had the severe misfortune of seeing, I'm just glad Vin had the sense to pass on that movie's sequel and go for this one.

My feeling is, that it was better than "Van Helsing" and the " The Punisher " , not by much, but better. I liked the special effects and actually wish the acting ( if you could call it that ) and story had taken a back seat to them.

The starship effects were very well done, unfortunately there is precious little of them. Most of the action centers on hand-to-hand edged weapon, low tech combat. Though there were cool magnetic pulse weapons, they were hardly used.

Monkey Face didn't ruin it because I don't think it would've been all that great anyway. But I agree with Dr.3vil that it is a pretty cool universe that they created, and there are alot of possibilities. They just need to work on the writing and focus on a different character.

I won't spoil it for anyone, but if you've placed a bet that there would be another sequel, following this one, well, you can collect your money now.

Dude, again, you echo my sentiments. I'm just going through a sucky period right now--my best friend and his brother are burnouts, and over the past few months have stopped doing anything--working, going to movies, even getting out of the house. My brother, who I also like to hang with, is jobless, so he can't go out. And, to pour salt in the wound, the girl I just broke up with, well, it was like you said--she wanted to see the crappiest movies. I never dreamed I would have to admit to seeing such flicks as 50 First Dates, Freaky Friday, and that babysitter movie with Brittany Murphy--but I did--with her. Needless to say, things didn't work out.

I'm poor as it is, but even when I manage to save up 8 bucks to go see something, now I just go to Wal-Mart and buy the newest 8.88 movie--'cause I don't have any buddies to go see a film with. Sucks to be us, I guess.

Here's to not compromising on movie buddies, and to finding new ones--besta luck, man.

Riddick is all about a space battle. Its Kind of Star Wars like, basically there is an Empire/Cult that is going around destroying all those who don't join them. There is only one hope for the galaxy a Furian named Riddick because it was prophesized that a furian would kill the leader of he cult. It’s quite entertaining. Even WM thought so.

I think by 'space battle' he means ships flying around in space shooting at each other. The Star Wars OT practically thrived on these scenes, but the prequels have been pretty relaxed concerning massive space battles (although rumor has it Episode 3 has a pretty big space battle). Seriously, I can't think of any recent movie that's had an extended battle between flying craft.

All those special effects have been so played out. The movie blew. I've seen the towering thing fall in so many other movies, I've seen all that shit in the matrix, star wars, and a shit load of other movies. The Punisher was the greatest movie this summer, by far. It had everything from killing to... killing.

I like Van Diesel and shit but Chronicles of Riddick was too predictable, lame, and over rated.
