I think that is a horrible idea. Sorry, I just can't get on board with that. Have you seen Casino Royale? It's a spoof on a Bond movie, and pretty bad, at that. If they want to redo Casino Royale and have QT direct, I could get behind that. But the Bond franchise is outside of QT's normal type of movie- are you sure you've got your facts straight, here?

Tarantino and Bond go together about as well as caviar and peanut butter.
In other words... No . Bad Idea.

I disagree. Tarantino and Bond would go together real good. Old school Bond was the epitome of cool. Tarantino has become the unofficial guardian of all that is cool in Hollywood today. He wouldn't be afraid of being politically incorrect, and wouldn't adhere to all the standard Bond cliches.
And before Casino Royale was made into a spoof, it was a serious novel by Ian Fleming. The first James Bond book, as a matter of fact.

i recon QT is a kich arse director. watching Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill and most of his other films, u can see just how cool his lead characters are. if u add that to the already super-cool world of James Bond, then that is a match made in heaven.

I agree with your disagreeing. Bond 21 hasn't started production because the writers are stuck on what to do next with Bond. It's not too often that a big budget action flick is haulted because the story isn't sound. Tarantino could breathe new life into the franchise. He already said in an interview that if he was brought onboard, he would restrain himself and not bring any drastic changes to the series. The fact that he would be working from a real source (Casino Royal) kind of ensures that he wouldn't do anything to make it his film.
And yes, it's true that Casino Royal wasn't a Bond spoof, it was an actual Bond film that turned out to be more cliche'd and ridiculous than anyone could imagine. It's one of those cases where a film is considered for a remake because the original was so bad (like the Italian Job, for instance).

Ok i have to take issue with this. While i'm still hung out on the Tarantino/Bond issue i have two other points to make. Casino Royale the film WAS indeed a spoof and not a serious film , however it was based on a genuine Bond Novel.
Secondly. And this one has really got to me. The Original Italian Job was bad???????? Typical American attitude. The original was one of the coolest heist movies ever made. The remake was very sub-standard and is typical of Hollywood chucking cash and big names at remaking untouchable original films.
The film was not even set in Italy for christs sake. Michael Caine made that role one of the coolest roles around and was probably up there alongside Steve McQueen as the icons of 60's cool. So take your half assed remakes and shove them where the studio lights don't shine.

Yeah, and Benny Hill was in it too. The original Italian Job was cool.
Now, if you want to talk about how bad the original Ocean's Eleven was...

Granted on Ocean's 11 however that was just an 'old buddies making a movie for the fun and money of it' film.
The only remake i can think of that was better than the very good original was The Thomas Crown Affair. Rene Russo just brings chemistry to any leading lady/love interest role she gets.

I don't know, I just couldn't get into the original. The new one is nothing great either, I just didn't particularly enjoy the original. Oh, and while Steve McQueen is undeniably cool, he was in about 100 movies, not all of them can be classic simply based on an actor's presence. You might as well praise Gigli for having Christopher Walken in it. Oh, and then take something and shove it somewhere.

You mean you didn't find Gigli to be the greatest movie of all time. (feigned look of shock on my face)
