New Jersey Man spends year at local theater

NEW JERSEY- Razorback, a *insert age here* year old man has spent the past year sitting at his local theater's ticket booth awaiting his turn to purchase his very own ticket to Star Wars Episode 3.

On-lookers have told reporters that the man has growled, and cursed at young kids who try and mess with his star wars tent, which the man sleeps in.

"Its kind of scary if you think about it," said Brad Johnson, "To sit in line for a movie for over a year, exudes more nerd-like tendencies than I can imagine."

Other on lookers say this is a more desperate way to grab attention then those who dress as Storm Troopers at local comic cons.</font color>

Hey, I simply asked a question. Calm down! /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Darth Vader, in Episode III, will not look exactly like he did in A NEW HOPE (or the other two). He will be different but similar to the Vader we all know and love.

All of the Darth Vader costumes were a little different in the first three movies. They all had some change or addition. So you would think that since he was "upgrading" his suit throughout the originals that over the 20 years between Episode III and IV that he would have done even more work on it.

So Vader will be changed and I doubt that I will be upset.

KingBison
05-17-2004, 10:14 AM
I guess your right. Im a huge fan of Star Wars myself, so it bothers me cause I know RB and myself could have some wonderful conversation on the topic.

True, the costumes changed throught the three original movies. As I understood this was because of advancements in costume design throught the production of the three movies. All the changes were minor( some color changes to his armor pieces around his neck and helmet improvements)none of which I think merits a previous early model suit.

BTW, sorry about blowing up. Lets just say its hard to tell when your performing a friendly jab, or a coup de grae(spelling?)!!

I thought the story was the strongest contribution Lucas made to the prequels. If anything, I would say he made the mistake of sacrificing some of that story for the sake of too much action. Mind you, story and dialogue are not the same things. I still think the dialogue might have benefitted from a few rewrites.

karmattack
05-17-2004, 03:04 PM

DarthMaulRat
05-17-2004, 04:04 PM
When Cartoon Network played all 20 eps. they put 5 together in blocks, leaving in the 5 second intro but getting rid of everything else besides the cartoons. I have captures of those 5 episode blocks in 4 files, and they seem to be a good format for watching all of em' in a row.

As for the cartoons being better than the movies, no. The cartoons are great cartoons, but they're not something you could patch together as an actual movie. There's no plots, character development, etc. They are great action though, on par with what Lucas offered (besides the lightsabre duels), except the toons can get away with more craziness because our suspension of disbelief is stronger when watching hand drawn characters. As much as I enjoyed the fanboy action, it would look ridiculous with real actors and realistic CGI.

Alright, fine! If you're going to get all serious about it, the 'toons aren't better than the movies. It was a joke. But in all seriousness, I think they DO have exactly what I &amp; II lack -- that if the movies had a bit more of the tone and grit the cartoons have, they would be the better for it. I really do have positive hopes for Ep III.

For me the cartoons were alot more fun, and easier to enjoy. No lines like " Qui Gonn sir , what are midichloreans ? " or the dreaded " Dying a little each day " crap. It was just fun unabashed action mostly and didn't allow itself to get bogged down in poor dialogue. I didn't care that much for the underwater segment but the rest was awesome , especially Mace losing/ finding his lightsaber , probably my favorite segment. Greivous was badass too, a nice introduction for the character.

The movies depress me because Lucas is the only director I can think of who takes A-list actors and have them turn in b-list performances. I remember being so excited to hear about the cast and then dissappointed about the performances.

Just my opinion.

zen_master
05-17-2004, 04:32 PM
I disagree on two of the actors, Ewan Mcgregor was good as was Samuel L, Portman was B list performance and that gimp who played Anikan alothough he isnt a A list actor put in somewhere around a Z list performance. That was just Episode 2 dont get me started on Episode 1.

Funny, but I either hear "Christensen was the worst actor in that movie" or "Christensen was the best actor in that movie." I thought that the Anakin character was written as being a whiner, who was awkward around beautiful women, who liked to sound as if he knew what he was talking about and who thought too highly of his power.

I can think of one delivery that I did not like by him. I thought the worst was Jackson, who was VERY stiff throughout (even during the action sequences). But I let it slide because I'm not invested in the performances as much as I am the story (otherwise I would never watch the original trilogy, which has awful acting as well).

As for him being a gimp of an actor.... he was only nominated for a SAG award, Golden Globe, and a few other awards for his other movies. Lucas wants this stiff style of acting (in the first 2 movies) as a way to show how consumed by regulation the republic (and the Jedi) has become.

There is barely any emotion left... everything is becoming stale. The Clone Wars will change some of that and I believe that you will see much more passion in the acting in Episode 3 simply because that is how Lucas has designed it.

Jason_Brown
05-17-2004, 08:55 PM
Interesting theory. I don't think I'm buying it, but it is food for thought. Guess we'll find out in Ep3.

My favorite performance in 1 and 2 has to be Liam Neeson's Qui-Gon. He brought an amazing quiet dignity and grace to the role, much like Alec Guiness did so long ago. His scenes with the young Anakin are wonderful, his death, heart-breaking.

And there was absolutely nothing stiff about his performance. (Perhaps he was the lone laid-back dude in the Republic.)

Bad dialogue, on the other hand, is stupid and cringe inducing. Sorry if that explanation sounds way too complex and scientific for you to understand. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

So, who, exactly, is that guy in your avatar? He seems to be hanging out with the Emperor's guards. (No spoilers, please.)

Razorback
06-27-2004, 01:58 AM
His name is General Grievous. Those are not the emperor's guards, they are his. He is part machine... the pic I posted above is an actual ILM shot of him (there is a better shot of his whole head but I didn't want to spoil too much). My avatar is composed of three drawings of him.

If you look in the above picture, you can see that Grievous has lots of battle damage (and it is possible that his helm is bone-like). If you want more info I can provide it, but I tried not to say too much.

The AOTC poster that had part of the Jedi Code on it was pretty cool. It didn't mention anywhere that it was part of the code, but fans who read it knew exactly what it was supposed to be.

Razorback

Like I said, I like them all about the same. The TPM was probably the best one of the three. The AOTC one (with Anakin and Padme) was cool and I like this one about as much. The teaser posters are not meant to blow people away. They are just a reminder that a Star Wars movie is coming (which is why the title isn't even on the poster).

Sure they are, or rather if they are not, they should be. They are supposed to get people excited about the movie, not just remind them that it is coming. That is what was great about the lil' Anakin/Darth Shadow poster. It amped you for the movie.

I know I don't know enough about it, because I'm trying to stay in the dark as much as possible (at least until the trailer comes out, and after that, nothing until the movie), but two (negative) things occurred to me when I saw the poster:

1. Darth Vader looks like Dark Helmet!
and
2. Anakin looks like his head is sticking out of Darth's shoulder.

Why does Darth Vader look so undefined?

I had always pictured Ana-Vader with a red lightsaber at the time of the "showdown".

Any word if Lucas let someone else write the dialogue for this one ?

How can you just lie to her like that? That is obviously Bobby Simone from NYPD Blue...can't really figure out why you would post a picture of him in a Star Wars thread, though.

Hey, do you think you could get me something, anything on the Mace, Anakin, Emperor fight. I need more. This leaked footage is addictive I don't care how old the stuff is. I've been trying to get something on that for a while.

Dave

of course you did. I'd never seen however, so thanks for putting it out there.

I feel sorry for the guys who had to key '3PO. there is a lot of color spill from that green screen. I can tell you from experience, it's not fun to fix that.
