Hi folks, i feel that Jason Lee is the most gifted actor to be launched to fame by Kevin Smith and Co, including Affleck and Damon ? But what is his finest movie i have 3:

1. Almost Famous
2. Mumford
3. Mallrats

sub: Chasing amy

What say you?

Gotta go for Amy as finest..He has the widest range of emotion in that one. Almost Famous is a close second and Dreamcatcher earns honorable mention...Did anyone else see the irony of Jason's character being killed by a shit demon?

1. Chasing Amy/Mallrats
2. Mumford: "I may be young, but Doc, I can tell you that I'm very immature."
3. Almost Famous: "It's okay! I'm easy to forget! I'm only the [censored] lead singer!"
4. Vanilla Sky: "Ah, but how could I enjoy the sweet of life without the bitter?"

Honorable Mention: Kissing a Fool I was so happy when he ended up with the girl instead of David Schiwmmer. Terrible movie saved by Jason Lee.

Honestly, I thought Drawing Flies was some great stuff.

He was an acting god in Chasing Amy. The scene where he's talking to Holden after he beds Alyssa is a great, subtle performance.

I like Jason Lee as much as the next guy, but my favorite Jason Lee scene is when he gets blasted by that bus while riding a bike in Enemy of the State. Man he just gets wrecked.

Just jason lee in any film where he's complaining works for me on so many levels. He's one of those perfect ranting voices that ensures class delivery of lines. Chasing amy is my favourite lee film and then almost famous, besides he had to learn Guitar for that role.

I have to say Mallrats is my favorite Jason Lee film. He is more animated in that film ...

Then, Vanilla Sky ... he is very good in that role.

Chasing Amy is right up there at the top.

I don't know about you guys, but when I hear Jason Lee is in a film ... it is the main selling point.

I'd have to vote for Chasing Amy, though I'm looking forward to seeing him in Fletch Won, if it ever happens.

Last I read, Weinstien wanted Ben or Matt to play Fletch.

Nope, don't think so.

Don't get me wrong, I like Ben and Matt, but neither of them would do Fletch the same kind of justice that Jason Lee would.

I can here his voice now, doing the narration like Chevy Chase did in the first two Fletch movies.

1. Mallrats. Not so much for the quality of the work or the material, but because it was the role that defined him for me. I can't see him in anything else without first thinking of him getting up off the floor with his bass riff and "There. That was romantic, right?"

2. Vanilla Sky. Because the movie and the character made me forget the while bass riff thing (notwithstanding what I said in #1).

3. Chasing Amy/Kissing a Fool.

Lee is great in anything he does, he saves any movie he shows up in.

1. Mallrats-Chasing Amy: It's a tie, I can't pick a winner here. He was truly defined by Brodie and proved his acting chops with Banky.
2. Almost Famous: The ranting ability shines in this flick, which is just an awesome movie to begin with, Lee is an added bonus.
3. Mumford: Skip Skipperton. Need I say more? Plus, we get to see Lee skateboard a bit, which is always a treat.

honorable mention: everything else he's been in.

Honestly, it's hard to pick favorites. He is a fine actor and is vastly underused in anything outside of a Kevin Smith movie. I *really* hope that Fletch Won goes through with Smith and Lee, there isn't another director-actor team that could be more perfect.

jason lee's finest hour was when he was born to make us laugh.

Definitely being the 2nd funniest part of Almost Famous, the first being the whole "I like music... and I'm on drugs!!," part.

I love just about anything Jason Lee does - his monologues rivial those of John Cusack's.

I preferred him in Chasing Amy rather than Mallrats, (but to be completely honest, I'm really not too picky about his movies).

Is it really right to say that Kevin Smith made both Affleck and Damon?

If anything, I would say that Matt Damon made himself famous, first by acting in such films as Mystic Pizza, Glory Daze, and by far his greatest achievment of the time, Courage Under Fire. All of which came before he received any parts from Kevin Smith.

As for Ben Affleck...its hard to say, he did significant acting prior to Mallrats. Some of this acting includes but isn't limited to Dazed and Confused, Body to Die For (Starring Role) and School Ties. Though I will agree that Kevin Smith had a great deal of impact on Afflecks acting career, he didn't completely make him. Give Ben some credit, he's amazing at what he does.

I am in agreement with much of the forum when I say that Jason Lee was Phenomenal in Chasing Amy, and Almost Famous. Also, for those of you whom haven't seen it, he has a monologue at the beginning of the movie Big Trouble. You guys might want to check it out.

Anyway, I'm out...seeya!

Quick problem with this thread: Has Jason Lee ever NOT kicked ass in a movie? Granted, I haven't see A Guy Thing or Harvard Man, but I think I've seen everything else. The guy is the raddest of the rad.

Actually, A Guy Thing and Stealing Harvard were a lot alike. Jason Lee is about to be married to his boss's daughter and has to do a lot of stupid stuff to right a mistake he made at the beggining of the movie.

This is just a post for those who read that I called Stealing Harvard "Harvard Man."

I was just checking the specs...

on the inline......uh...

rotary girders....I'm retarded.

Code6...yeah, that's what those movies looked like to me which is why I never made them a priority to watch. Still, I'm willing to bet J. Lee shines. With those movies, I secretly think they are each a part of a test to see if he has draw as a leading man...maybe to see if he could handle an established franchise [coughCOUGHFletchcough]. Conspiracy?

Yea. He does stand out in the movies but I was just pointing how they were alike.
