For what it is worth, my thoughts after seeing this last night:
Michelle Branch is hard because she announced something or other on a show about Metallica.
Avril Lavigne is hard for covering a Metallica song.
Fred Durst may be the worst singer/frontman of all time.
Rob Trujillo looks incredibly out of place with Metallica.

Michelle Branch makes me Hard no matter what she says or does.
Avril Lavigne is about as hard as a twiglet no matter how many bangles she wears on one arm.
Fred Durst doesn't interest me one way or another.
I have no idea who Rob Trujillo is besides being someone in Metallica (possibly)

"I have no idea who Rob Trujillo is besides being someone in Metallica (possibly)"

Trujillo used to play bass for Suicidal Tendencies, an 80s LA punkish band ("Institutionalized" was their big song and MTV video), and also recently for Ozzy.

Why isn't anybody commenting on the genius of Jim Breuer? Am I the only one who thought he was funny last night?

Snoop sucked... that was one of the worst moments in TV history. I actually stopped the tape and recorded over that part because I refuse to have that crap ever show up on my TV again... ugh!

I thought that the new song sounded incredible. I got tired of Metallica after Load but if this new CD is going to be as hard as that song then I'm all into Metallica again.

Durst was actually very good. I know that Metallica fans thought that he should have covered the song as it was written but I liked what he did with the song. Just look at what Metallica did with Garage Days. They changed all of the songs... that's how one covers a song, by making it your own.

Avril could have been less monotone. The band did a great job though. Everyone else did a respectable job (minus the previously mentioned rapper who should be shot).

So Snoop sucked, but Limp Bizkit ruled? Right on.

Metallica, no matter what anyone says, can still rock out hard and kick major ass. I know that they're getting old and are growing up, but jesus they need to give us some of the good stuff again. This new album, "Say Anger", hopefully will make all the critics realize they've still got it in them to be the best.

I wouldn't go as far as saying that he ruled. However, Metallica did rule.
