Oh God the horror !!!!
This is without doubt the worst movie I've ever seen in a theatre ! And I saw "Robot Jocks" in the theatre.
The dialogues' only purpose is to progress the painfully predictable and unoriginal plot. But that would seem to indicate that there was some sort of plot to this horribly uninspired piece of shit. Wittier lines appeared in Stallones' "Cobra " and Schwarzeneggers' "Commando" which is where the formula seems to be borrowed from. I wish I could say the dialogue is laughably bad , but then you'd be left with the impression that I enjoyed some of it.
At the opening scene you see what is obviously Florida coastline, ( Obvious to anyone who's been alive and above ground for more than a week. ) the word "Tampa" flashes at the bottom left of the screen, then after a moment, the word "Florida". Which was good for me , because I thought they were talking about the coastline in Tampa Wisconsin ! The worst mistake a director can make is to assume the audience is completely clueless. That assumption, more than anything else, is what carries/dooms this movie.
Ten minutes in, I wanted to go and ask for my money back I didn't think they'd give it to me just for saying the movie sucked, so I sat there and had my intelligence insulted for 1:40 or so. Acting ? It's not so much bad acting as terrible writing, the best friggin actors in the world couldn't make this script work.
Speaking of acting....Travoltra is a complete whore ! "Battlefield Earth" was six times better than this, "Face Off " was four times better . No one . I mean NO ONE ! can read a script like that and think it's going to be good movie.
You'd think, at least, they'd get the action right.
You'd be wrong.
I went into this movie with open mind , I wanted to like it , really I did. I wasn't expecting to have my mind blown or walk out with an entirely new standard for great action. I was hoping for something like "The Crow" or ... at least some cool explosions/gunplay. There are no emotions to attach yourself to. Nothing to reflect on. No underlying themes or sub-plot. No motivation, to continue sitting there.
I want my eight bucks back.
I want my hour and half back.
I want to know what horrible karmic transgression I committed to be "punished" with this movie.
F*ck the boycott ! I say we go class-action their asses !
M.W.
ps. I really shoulda waited 40 minutes, for the next showing of K.B.vol.2.

Travolta has not lost his lid, yet . I thought "Basic" was pretty good.

Yeah, it was cool for a bit and then it changed to being pretty bad.

What did you think was "cool" about it ?
The part where he managed to swim to shore with .45 caliber hole in his right lung ? Or the part where he took a Shotgun blast in the belly at point blank range and didn't even get knocked backwards ? Or Ooooh look an exposed propane tank with a badguy beside it . I wonder what's going to happen next ?
"We're not lucky , we're blessed. "
I mean C'mon!!! I've read more creative things off of cans of soup.
I was waiting the whole movie for something, anything, I thought was cool , and couldn't find one thing I really liked... No innovation or imagination.

Have you ever seen someone get shot with a shotgun? Ever heard of reactive force? In the real world you do not get knocked back if you are shot with a shotgun. There isn't enough power behind the shell to do that. It punches a large hole in you at close range and lots of small ones at a distance. If fired into a bulletproof vest it would feel like someone nailed you with a baseball bat as hard as they could swing it.

I haven't seen it yet, but it sounds like another Segal flick, except Segal would probably take 10 blasts to the stomach with a shotgun.

Fair enough, but earlier in the movie when a bad guy gets shot with a shotgun from five feet away , it knocks him ten feet out the door, and then later we're supposed to believe it wouldn't affect our hero the same way ?
Second. If someone hits me in the belly with a baseball bat I don't think I'm going to be able to continue fighting him as if nothing happened.
Note : I would've put *SPOILERS* in here somewhere, if I thought it was possible to spoil this movie. You'd have to be complete idiot not to see every major plot point coming a mile away .
Smurfy,
Never saw the "Dolphgren" version. Thank God !
Omaru,
Yup, Like I said if you liked " Cobra " and "Commando" this is the movie for you. Otherwise... well ...

It was better the the orginal but some parts ur just like "WTF?". how did he know travolta was behind his families death? how could travlota find out he was an fbi agent and where he was vacationing, yet not know where he was staying after he came back to tampa even though he made a public appearance on the street infront of the news. And WTF where were the cops, stuff blowing up everywhere and theres not a cop in sight. the "coolest" thing as i said was the way he killed people which you have to admit was more violent then any comic based movie to date. and the guy made a good punisher in my opinion. The punisher IMO has sooo much potential you just need the right people making it.
Theres a new punisher movie coming out... saw a poster...

From the trailer it looks to be crap as well. I would like to see someone do it right since I'm such a huge fan of the character. Why don't they ever let the comic writers take a stab at the script?

Good stories usually don't make as much money. :(

With rumours of the Director leaving, being sacked, returning, denying said rumours...
(My spell checker is telling me to remove the 'u' from rumours. For the most part I adhere to the American way of spelling. This time I won't as the word looks toooo strange when u-less.)
