I am a poop shoot virgin, so bare with me, I do not know the rules and regulations. I just felt a strong desire to commend Mr. Smith on this film. Do to work schedules, my fiance and I just got to see the movie last night, just boosting those Tuesday night grosses. But I have to say, the wait was well worth it. I completely adore this movie. Don't get me wrong, I love all of Mr. Smith's other films. Collectively, we own and watch all of them, and recommend them to those who have not had the pleasure (lately we've been pimping "An Evening with Kevin Smith", to friends and family, and still kick ourselves in the ass for not even knowing he was at IU for a question and answer session). However, I really felt a strong connection with Jersey Girl. In many ways, I could relate with Ollie, his loss of a loved one and coping with work and family commitments during the bereavement stage. This movie was real, it was personal, and it was heart felt. I have to admit, there were two or three times when I shed a tear or two, it really touched me(good touch, not bad touch)and that hasn't happened with a movie in a long time.
In addition, this movie elevated our normal post-movie dinner conversation to a discussion and debate session weighing the effects of death on the living, moving on after the loss of a spouse (good to have that talk before our upcoming nuptals, always a favorite among the men), and of course comparing and contrasting the difference of Jersey Girl to Mr. Smith's previous films. We agreed on a few things; 1-this was a well written movie, 2-Ben Affleck was absolutely amazing(his best work yet), 3-Liv Tyler was a perfect match, and 4-Raquel Castro was a great choice, she is adorable and extremely talented. Yet, we agreed to disagree on other aspects of the film.
So in closing, I say Mr. Smith, thank you, my movie going experience was truly enjoyable.
