Free Comic Book Day...?

So, I was gone all weekend and unable to get to any comics shop. How was Free Comic Book Day on Saturday? Any shops do anything special to promote it? Anyone have any good stories? Increased traffic to the store while you were there? Any good free stuff?

My local shop bought 100 (or so) extra issues of the Ultimate X-Men comic for us to hand out at the movie theatre. We set them out on a display where we had X-Men mini-posters the previous day, and they all got gone pretty quickly.

That's cool to hear -- the timing of the movie and FCBD with Ult. X-Men was pretty perfect, so its good to hear that at least some people capitalized on that.

A few friends of mine went and got some stuff but I missed out because of my Saturday schedule. I think the Bergen Mall in Paramus was doing some "special" things. I wonder if anyone on this board went there.

I am so sorry I missed this ... no comic book stores anywhere around me that day. I made a big heapin' stink (http://seriousfix.com/nuke/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid= 506&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0) over at my site (http://seriousfix.com/nuke) about it ... and the day came and went ... and no comics.

Hey, there is always next year. I am thrilled that the day existed. After all, nothin' says love more than a free comic ... nothin' except maybe a BJ.

I worked at my store for it. We gave away plenty of free comics. I am surprised there are so many people on here that had no idea about it. I get the feeling the only people who know about it are the people already reading comics, and that's not who the companies want to reach with this day.
