All right, I have a question for any and everyone on this site answer as best you can. (Try to be original but most of all be honest) What is your favorite actor depiction of a character of all time and why? (Keep in mind this is out of movies.... well write what you want movie or t v character don't matter to me.)
I'll start it off.... I'll have to go with Val Killmer's Doc Holiday in Tombstone. Anyone who has seen the movie doesn’t really need to know why I picked that because he just pulled it off masterfully.

Tyler Durden . I don't think any other character even comes close to expresiing the duality of human nature . That Yen and Yang of our personalities that we're always trying to keep in check . There's a little Tyler in all of us.
Before that it was Jules from "Pulp Fiction".
Before that was it Darth Vader.

I don't necessarily have one favorite. I will just gradually post several as I think of them. For now,
Bill Pullman as Daryl Zero.

The Dude in The Big Lebowski. Does it have to be a starring role? I have lots of favorite supporting actor characters/performances.

No, I going for performance on this one. Some of the best performances are by really small parts. Its personal, you choose. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

"The" Dude.

THE dude. Have you seen the movie? Jeff Bridges' character is named The Dude.
Jeff Daniels is not in this movie. He lives in Michigan and writes plays to be performed locally. Jeff Bridges is one of Lloyd Bridges' sons, and has acted in many, many movies.
The extent of his direction in The Big Lebowski, as told by Joel Cohen, was that he asked if the Dude burned one down on the way to whatever scene they were shooting. They said yeah, he knuckled his eyes to get them red, and then they did the scene. What motivation!

Oh yeah, * bangs head against the wall* sorry I haven't seen the movie in like a year, and I've always gotten Jeff Bridges and Jeff Daniels names mixed up. /forums/images/icons/blush.gif

just to get him out of the way, Han Solo. Maybe notmy all time favorite, but he is the best of the Star Wars films. Although I think I prefered Chewbacca my self, maybe it is because I was always so much dammed taller than everyone else.

Another great Jeff Bridges performance/character: Junior Jackson from The Last American Hero. Love that flick.

I must say, either Norman Reedus or Sean Patrick Flanery... heck with it... BOTH! If you couldn't already tell I may just have picked them because I am obsessed with the Boondock Saints! David della Rocco wasn't to shabby either though.

Surprised no one has said Keyser Soze yet. The man with the plan. It's always nice when an arch villian wins.

Pretty much any character played by Christopher Walken. However, his role as Frank White in 'King of New York' was kick ass.

David Della rocco was mentioned earlier as not too shabby. I just want to point out that rocco the funny man is one of the best supp. characters ever man. "Catch you on the flip side", and "Wyattfucking Earp" are constantly being quoted by me and my circle of movie fans. Im not arguing with your point, Im just saying I think hes better than the credit given to him. BTW, as a side note, David is a friend of Troy Duffy. They worked at the bar together where troy wrote BDS.

Were they not expecting to do a sequal... if they were, why would they have killed off Rocco's character, he was awesome, and like you said "Wyatt FuckingEarp!"

While talking about fav. characters, I still think the Boondock Boys are by far the best, but I would like to hand out two honorable mentions. The first isn't a movie character but a TV character: Michael Chiklis on The Shield, he is one badass cop who breaks all the rules and is really fun to watch. The other honorable mention goes out to Johnny Depp in Once Upon A Time In Mexico. That movie kicks ass and Depp does a great job as a corrupt CIA agent who redeems himself at the end.

I agree about Johnny in Once upon a time in Mexico. I'd like to add, that Johnny in almost any role is my favorite.

You replied to Matt1, so I am assuming your "Who" was in reference to Snake Plissken.
You are a good person, so I won't go off on you for not knowing who Snake Plissken is. He is the main character in the Escape From New York movies. He is one bad ass dude.

No, No I knew who he is or was.
And thanks so much for saying I am a good person. I appreciate it.
And to answer the question for this thread...I would have to say it would be Ewan McGregor in Trainspotting.
My friend says it would have to be John Cusack in High Fidelity.
