I have heard about all the controversy over Mel's new movie the Passion. I wanted to know what you guys think about it because at this point I am having some mixed feeling about whether to go see it or not.
Thanx

I thought " THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST" was a good movie. However, if you go, keep in mind that you are going to see a movie about a crucifixion, and contrary to popular belief it was no party to be crucified. Anyway do a search on "I saw the Passion" on this site and you will see we already had a little talk on this. My advise is don't listen to anybody go and make up your own mind. Even if you hate the movie you'll at least know where you stand on it. Plus Mel Gibson deserves support just for making a movie he believed in, no matter what anyone told him.

I, and many others, thought this movie was going to BOMB. I give the guy credit for putting up his own money to make a movie he believed in. For that reason, I sure hope that he makes 1 billion dollars worldwide.

Yup, pretty good ticket sales so far.
Gibson stated He's interested in some of the other stories in the Bible. Interesting...

Yeah, seeing all the cute animals on the arc, like Koala bears, being scourged and tortured for two hours would not exactly be my cup of tea.
That was a lie.

Well in sticking with the Gibson style he might do Cain and Able, or Moses. That is if he reverts back to the Old Testament. I don't know though, we'll have to see. He already has made his money on this one, so if he makes another one he'll have the 50 percent rule, (at least 50 percent of the original audience will return for a sequel)and yes I know that "The Passion" pretty much took care of any chance for a "Resurrection" by Mel Gibson, but take Mel give him a movie to direct about passover, the frogs, the locus, the plague, and lets not forget about god slaying the first born ...I'd go just to see what he would do with it.

The Passion was an excellent movie in my opinion. Some slight problems I found with it. Like if one man could possibly sustain that many hits/cuts/whips/whatever and possibly be able to carry the cross, excessive amounts of blood loss, and so on......But then again this is the Son of Man so maybe that's how. Good movie in my opinion, yeah it's controversial but really any movie dealing with religion or political issues is.

For all you uneducated Americans, a koala is not a bear! /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

It's a marsupial, right? Like a duck-billed platypus and the FRIGGIN' HUGE POSSUM I saw in the alley between bars in downtown Chicago? /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif

I actually was aware, but I still thought they had the "bear" in their name. Are they just called Koala's then?
Also, keep freaky ass opossums the hell away from me! Those things give me the creeps like nothing else.

Yep they are just referred to as "Koalas". Thus concludes our lesson on Australian terminology for today. Tune in tomorrow for lessons on how to drink beer continuously for 18 hours without a hangover.

I'm game as long as you teach me how to wrestle crocs too. But here's the catch, you got to teach me during the 18 hour drink-a-thon. I'll either be really well taught or dead either way its likely to be an experiance I'll never forget. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

They may not be bears, but they can be mean mothers! I had a friend who was an Austrailian exchange student who had a brother mauled by a Koala. Grabbed on to his back and gutted him with his claws. I can't look at them the same way any more.

I would find that pretty hard to believe unless it was provoked. Plus the only place I've ever seen one is in the zoo so I'd be interested to know where this happened.

I didn't realize, Ozchick, that you had asked me a question and I did not answer. My apologies. As for where in Australia my frend lived, I am sorry it has been about thirteen years or so since he told me the story of his brothers death. Yes the Koala was provoked. They grew some plant that the Koala's liked to nibble. His brother tried to shoo one off the way they always did, however it was a mother and child. The mother protected its young.
