Marthat Stewart: GUILTY (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=514&u=/ap/20040305/ap_on_bi_ge/martha_stewart_112)

...on all counts. Holy eff!

I just hope she doesn't show up in any of those late night, Skinemax prison movies.

<font color="purple">Good. Did you see her NBC movie? That was some scary shit. I guess if you fuck people over, you'll get [censored] over sometime in your life. Guess it is her turn.

Yep, I watched some of it. Still, I never would have guessed this outcome at all considering the height of her profile. Somewhere, O.J. Simpson and Johnny Cochrane are laughing their asses off.

How do they find a jury for that trial?

You heard of Martha Stewart?
Yep.
Get outta here.

You heard of...and so on.

So many people wanted her to get in trouble that it seems to be incredibly likely that the jury already had it in for her...That's not to say that I didn't want her to be found guilty...

I can't possibly imagine. If I was one of the involved lawyers, I would have feared that process as soon as I knew she was going to trial.

Am I the only person left that thinks that Martha is just a red herring? As far as her TV movie goes, a lot of people who know her said it was hurtfull trash. Then, the charges of insider trading get dropped. She is convicted of panicing and doing something dumb, Not evil. She is not Enron. I don't think I would want her as a friend, but a woman who was worth millions is now in trouble for a few thousand. It just doesn't add up to me.

She got what She deserved. It's not like She was a babe in the woods and did'nt know about the inner workings of business. She was a stockbroker at one time for Christ's sake!
She lied, She lost. All for an inital savings of $50,000.00
As a result of today's decision, Martha has a loss of about $150,000,000.00 and counting!
You'll find no tears being shed for Her on My end! /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

I don't give two shits about her... but her loss is a loss to many families who will probably have their breadwinner losing a job.

[/ QUOTE ] Great point. It is amazing that Enron, the guys that horded electrical power that resulted in city-wide blackouts in California, ordered their employees that they cannot sell their Enron stocks, raided their 401ks, and was the largest contributor to President Bush's 2000 campaign get away scot-free with a little 5th amendment action.

Yet a woman who does her part to make sure women are better homemakers (of which there is no more noble profession for a woman /forums/images/icons/grin.gif ) does a little insider trading and she's sent to the pillaries like a modern day Hester Prynne.

While I agree that all Enron, Worldcom, and Tyco goons should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and sent to real prison (not club Fed), I don't see why their criminal actions should excuse Martha of her own.

What does really bug the hell out of me though is that there will be three month period between her conviction and her sentencing. THREE MONTHS! Anyone else catch that Dave Chappelle sketch about there being two different legal systems in America?
