In this crazy world we live in there are only two truths, One, if you want to survive you have to carve out your own space and two, fighting solves anything and everything, so I have combined both and come up with a little weekly poll Event I like to call..BUM BUM BUM

"THE VS CORNER"

First of all, the VS corner would like to go on record and apologize for the first issue this week. We do not discriminate against anyone, and apologize for infringin on peoples beliefs thats said lets move on.

With the recent viewing of the updated Punisher trailer and The Sick obession with the Spider-man sequel, my dream of having my two favorite marvel comic characters on the big screen is soon coming true. But the problem is, who is better? Can the live action version of Frank Castle outwit and outshoot Tobey? Will the Russian be a better villian than Doc Oct? Tonight we find out who would win in a fight and the question remains, who is better Movie Punisher or Movie Spider-man

now this is a post! /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

it took me a while, but i've come to the conclusion that spiderman would own him. even though the punisher looks pretty bad ass (and intimidating with that automatic rifle in his hand), what else has he got? muscles? he's not a kung fu master. he can't melt things with his eyes. he can't fly. don't get me wrong, i love a hero who shows weaknesses, but with spidey's awesome senses, his speed and agility, and just the fact that he shoots webs out of his wrists would declare him the man. think about it...the punisher can unload on spidey all he wants, but he would never get him. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif and who wants a big bulky slow guy when you've got a fast guy who can get a number of punches before you even raise your fist?

Spiderman pretty much always kicked Punisher's ass, as I remember it...

I agree with most of what you said, but there are two things that put punisher over the edge.

First off, punisher has explosives and lots of them. yeah, maybe the first time the two fight, Punisher loses cause well, he didnt count on someone being able to dodge his bullets. The second meeting between the two would be punisher going to peters house and blow that [censored] up. Lets see spidey run from a 22lbs c4 explosion. Thats a big fuckin boom.

But what really gives Punisher his edge, is that he has nothing to lose. Spidey has aunt mae and Mary jane. Punisher has nothing. Thus he cannot be blackmail or threated because in his mind, he is already dead. Spider-man has to think about the people he loves, and as we learned in the first spider man. That can be a powerful tool against the web-slinger.

Again, I have a question about the nature of the battle.

Whose movie would the fight take place in? Seems like that would determine the victor, you know?

Nah, fuck that. My money's on Spidey regardless. I'd school them both though.

i don't think spidey would make for a good villian in a punisher movie. the punisher would be an awesome villian in a spidey movie.

In the movie, Punisher is just so badass that he makes Spiderman seem like a little kid with webbing.

here i go flexing my nerd muscle....I will go with The Punisher, but only Garth Ennis's Punisher. He's the best, toughest Punisher and he kicked Spider-Man's ass.

Now, i am one of four people in the known universe that didnt like the spiderman movie. i thought it didnt mix the hollywood version of spidy and the comic version of spidy well (he called him Gobby after meeting him only once...sounded corny)...but i'll check out the 2nd one cause i LOVE Alfred Molina. i'm sure Spider-Man 2 will gross like a trillion dollars, but the better movie will be Punisher only if its R Rated and closer to Garth Ennis's take. i can forgive John Trovolta as a villin as long as i can see Frank Castle welding a flame thrower or mowing down some criminal scum with a sub machine gun. much better then some Plesentville horse jocky swinging from <blah> organic webs.

Please, Hollywood...just make a movie out of Box Office Poison. Please

Thats all for now....pray for Whirlled Peas. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

I wasn't extremely fond of it either. I didn't hate it though, not something I'd watch more than once unless I had to. Although I've seen it two or three times.

My big thing with the spiderman movie, is why did they make goblin have some stupid helmet that looks like the green goblin. I mean did they look at willam defoe. With a little protetics, he could have made one hell of a goblin. No need for that helmet mask thing. I think a latex mask of some sort would have made the goblin that much better. The costume was alright, but the mask killed it for me. As far as organic webbing, big whup. Its not so bad. Any Idea whos playing the Russian in the punisher?? People who dont read punisher are going to fuckin love that guy. One of the best punisher villians ever.

I'm telling you all, go back and actually look at some COMICS- Spiderman kicks Punisher's ass on a pretty consistent basis. I remember when I used to collect Punisher and my best friend at the time collected Spidey he would rub it in my face every time Spidey got one up on the Big Pun- it happened a LOT. I guess Marvel just wasn't willing to let their marquee superhero get dealt with by a guy with no super powers. Oh, and Spidey always had some smart-ass remark for Punny, too. I say, let's see Spiderman fight Batman- Bats would rock hs world.

Efexeye
03-04-2004, 11:19 AM
As for Punisher being R-rated- it's not going to happen. I can pretty much guarantee that. If it does, I'll be surprised and happy, but remember, it is releasing the same weekend as Kill Bill Vol. 2- I think adults will be a lot more likely to take their kids to see a pg-13 rated Marvel movie than QT's latest blood fest. Plus, I don't think Stan the Man would ever approve an R-rated movie based on one of his properties- at least not in this millenium.

God, three posts in a row, I'm such a noob- but for the record, I hated Spiderman as well. I realize the limitations of computer graphics, but man did it look fake in a LOT of spots. Here's hoping that in the next one, with the oprigin story out of the way, they get down to business. Then again, Spiderman was always a little squeaker to me anyway, so......it remains to be seen.

KingBison
03-04-2004, 11:27 AM
Punisher vs Batman would be a good fight. Maybe in the future. One thing I have to say is that punisher is very smart as far as combat tactics go. Spiderman has no real understanding of battle strategy and just goes on instinct. Castle could easily beat spider man if he came up with a clever enough trap, which he is fully capable of doing.

Efexeye
03-04-2004, 11:45 AM
YOU ARE NOT LISTENING. It's all well and good to sit around and debate "what-ifs", but the fact of the matter is, in the comics, that Spiderman has consistently been kicking the Punisher's ass since the beginning. Punisher could do this, Punisher could do that, but he never does- SPIDEY ALWAYS BEATS HIM. Read some comics, or ask Tipton- he'll tell you the same thing. There is no debate here- Punisher loses 95 percent of their fights, even in books where the covers show Spiderman dead center in Punisher's crosshairs. It's not a matter of ability, it's a matter of politics.

KingBison
03-04-2004, 11:47 AM
But that is comic book spidey and punisher. This debate is about movie punisher and spidey. Or do you believe they are one in the same.

Efexeye

Your "vs. corner" is debating "movie Punisher" against "movie Spiderman" but the Punisher movie isn't even out yet! How the hell is anyone supposed to mkae a comparison? It's like comparing the old Punisher movie to the new one- you can't do it because NO ONE HAS SEEN THE NEW MOVIE YET! Am I making sense yet, you little mushroom-headed weirdo? /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Well, I will if I have to, but I just don't see it happening. I'll be ecstatic if it does, but if they release Punisher with an R rating, it is going to hurt the box office take.

The Matrix movies were rated R. If it is a good movie then it will do well. From the reviews I have read, and the brand new trailer, I think this movie is going to rock the roof off the comic book movie house.

Seriously? I think it looks terrible, but that's just from the preview. I fear the Punisher movie might end up being a pile of shit in a bucket. Sans the bucket.

ILovePapaSmurf
03-04-2004, 03:50 PM
Ok, let me re-phrase what I was saying. I'm not feeling very well today, so if my posts don't make sense, that is the excuse.

I think the punisher looks really good. The trailer may have a lot of cheese in it, but a friend of mine told me that it will be better than anyone expected. And john Travolta as a bad guy, come on. He is cool...no, make that uber cool. He made the movie basic for me.

The first spiderman movie didn't impress me as much (maybe because I thought the rain scene was a little not wanted), but the second one looks way better

Efexeye
03-04-2004, 03:58 PM
I agree, Punisher looks pretty shitty to me- and I really WANT it to be good. As far as what RB said, the Matrix movies were geared towards an adult audience. Do you really think an R-rated Spiderman movie would have fared as well as the PG-13 version did? It's Marvel, that's my point- they don't need to rate things R to ensure a good audience.

RobinHoodDaffy
03-04-2004, 04:07 PM
Spider-Man is not a "R" rated character. Punisher should be. Batman could be. Superman is not. It is just a matter of staying true to the feeling of the character, if not the literal nature of the books.

Efexeye
03-04-2004, 04:24 PM
Oh, by the way, Apple has a new Punisher trailer up, and it looks much less shitty than the first one, but it still comes off to me like a pretty generic revenge flick.

Is Microchip in it, does anyone know? I think Jack Black would make a good Microchip, even though I can't stand the guy...

Blade Wasn't aimed at kids, and thats a perfect example of adult marvel. I think Punisher will/should take the same route. The guy playing Frank also bears some resemblance to Max Payne.

Oh come on, violence, guns, John Travolta...it was so going to pick up an R rating.

GD_Candyman
03-05-2004, 01:05 PM
So the punisher movie is R...hmm...i still want to see it more then spiderman 2. if this punisher movie had Louis Gosset Jr also, it would be perfect, but alasss...... and this movie HAS to be better then daredevil. The Cat in The Hat was better then daredevil.

Anyone who has any doubts about Thomas Jane playing Frank Castle, go to the video store and rent a movie called "Thursday"...its one of those Pulp Fiction rip offs, but a very very very very good one.

I work at a movie theatre..lets have a Run Through party for punisher and eats lots of pie. and i mean A LOT.
Peas.

ILovePapaSmurf

I actually liked Daredevil better than the cat in the hat and that is saying alot.

Thomas Jane is a great actor. Since we are recommending films with him in it, see the movie 61*. Not only high quality acting from Jane (and hottie Barry Pepper), but it is one of the best baseball movies I have ever seen.
