. . . but I have to get one. Curse J for being a Junior. Good news is he has to wear a tux (that = me foaming at mouth). Maybe I'll post some pictures on here so you can all see. It won't be until April though.
I hate wearing dresses too... I can never fill out the top.
You know why we Scots call them kilts?
'Cause the last guy who called it a skirt, we kilt!

Oh, I remember that time! You must tell us how it goes. I hope you have a great time girl, and do drink the punch. It may have worse things in it than liquor.
This gives me a good idea, via Asteban...I think we should turn this thread into a post your prom/high school dance picture thread!
[Previous disclaimer...we all know that styles have changed, so laughing is expected, not feared]
Ok people! Get out your scanners! /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

I object to this idea, on the grounds that it's taken me 20 years to undo the damage, caused by big hair and even bigger dresses, that was done to my reputation, such as it is...

I don't think I have pictures of my prom, however I still have the dress, and a digital camera...that way you get the idea.
Anywho, Asteban. I hate dresses as well. It took me forever to get the guts to wear this jean skirt that I found to love. You know let me tell you something, wearing a dress to prom isn't that bad. Wear shorts and 'chucks' with your dress and you will be OK!

I'd assume just going in pajamas, it would kick ass. I might just wear my biker boots with it, that would be awesome too. Its things like that, that people expect me to do, haha. Haha. My bf . . . fuck it, I'll just use his name, its not like he'd care. Anyway JOSH(the mystery is revealed!!) said he was getting a tux with tails, such a goon. It would be funny though. /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif

yeah...i'm thinking about going to the prom. it's just that i know i won't ask anyone, i can't dance, and i won't get invited to an after party. so what's the point? i'll probably just go so that way when i'm older, i can say i went. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
but really, what's the big deal?
Asteban

Hahaha.
I really don't see a huge deal in it either, but a bunch of my friends are going and they begged me to go, and I said if they wanted me to go, they had to convince Josh to go. So that they did, and now I'm going.

I hate to say this, but Pajamas might be a BIT too tacky. Its actually fun to wear a dress for one night and have fun with friends...I think Josh would appreciate it if you wore a dress this time around.

I know, I know. I wasn't actually gonna do that, it would be fun though. I love the feeling of being comfortable when everyone else is not. That might be because I'm Satan though, hehe.

i'm glad you feel that way, however, one of my biggest pet peeves is when someone tries to dress totally out of the ordinairy just because they don't care what others will think. i don't mind a free spirited personality...but when your doing stupid shit to prove it, that's what pisses me off. (don't ask why.)

I don't do things like that to prove it. People can tell by my personality that I'm nutty. I'm a strange person, sometimes I like to dress accordingly. Heh.

There is just something about proms that makes you feel nice to wear a dress.
My friends and I work chucks to match our dresses just to be different.
Plus, we all played tennis and there was no way in hell we would wear heels to hurt ourselves.
It was an enjoyable experience for the most part.

I am going to come clean here...I was default prom date girl.
In high school, much as today, most of my friends were guys. When all else failed...you know.
Out of all the times I went, only twice did I have a real "date". Once, my freshman year, with the senior captain of the football team. If is is starting to sound like a John Hughes movie, you are right. The jerk was doing coke before we even got to the dance. He was so screwed up that I practically carried him during the Grand March. I don't even want to tell you how I managed to extract myself home safely. A nightmare, that I had thought was going to be a dream.
The second guy real date was my boyfriend my junior year. He was four years older than I, and still came back from college to take me. It was a good experiece. All others were the "Let's ask Susan because everyone else said no already" dates /forums/images/icons/smirk.gif Still, we usually had fun. I like fancy dresses.

i never went to any of the proms or homecumming dances or anything like that. i dont say that out of any kind of ill will twoards those kind of things. i just never liked that kind of thing. looking back now ( i have been out of high school for 4 years ) i think i should have gone to at least one thing. but as a whole, i'm not sorry. you just have to live life from day to day, and not spend to much time looking at it as a entire experience. you'll spend a lot less time worrying about things. or i could be completely talking out of my ass. i have no idea...i need some pie to wax philisopical.
peas.

Well, if that is what they expect from you, then don't do it. Do the unexpected and throw them all off.
Also, you have mentioned Josh's name before.

Well, its not something they'd EXPECT me to do, but they know if someone was to do it, it would be me. Also, I didn't know I mentioned his name before. I must have caught ADD from him. HAHA. ADD jokes are fun, so are gay jokes, because when I make them, they are always aimed at his dad. Good thing he has a good sense of humor. His family is so weird. At least for a small town in Illinois it would be considered weird.

society's view on ADHD disgusts me.

I joke about it with Josh all the time. He has ADD, he takes meds for it. Whenever he forgets something our friends and I blame it on his ADD. Haha.
Zen, did you ever stop to think that what was a "default" date to you was a real date to the guy. He could have had a mighty crush on you, and just been to shy to tell ya, not wanting to mess up the friendship and all that.
Oh, to go back in time and make different decisions. Life it to short to not ask someone out, because you're afraid of rejection.
Oh, and Asteban, the way you feel about Tux's is probably the way Young Josh feels about you in Dress. There is nothing Sexier than girl in a nice dress. You can ask the ladies i have chained up in my basement, they'll tell you I'm right.

[/ QUOTE ] I would like to believe that, yes. But I did grow up in a very small town, and if you went through a prolonged awkward tom-boy period where you wore tiny Springsteen t-shirts (thanks mom and dad ;0) in grade school when other girls were in Care Bears stuff, the effect never seems to wear off. /forums/images/icons/smirk.gif
By the way, RB, you are very sweet. I think I blushed. /forums/images/icons/blush.gif

You could be right. Ah, he's happy however I'm dressed, and I'm happy however he's dresses. Speaking of him, I just got back from his house half an hour ago, I've had a wonderful day.
First softball practice, then Josh picked me up and we watched TV at his house, then went and got some fizzood.

I never went to any high school dances. I went to an all girl high school and my only guy friends lived out of town. No boyfriend to speak of, so my friends and I went out for a nice dinner and a movie instead. Alas, the movie couldn't be rated R because my friend who father used to be a priest and mother used to be a nun forbid her too and she actually repsected their rules. i know hard to beleive, but sadly true. We saw Sommersby and I can't remember what we saw senior year.
FYI, Mister (or Missus) Lurker Man... I like dresses.
They make me feel pretty.
