Well square are with enixz now so that's probably saved them, kingdom hearts though..... the camera made the game near impossible to play during those tedious fight sequences (but that's just me, I find any game where you continously fight stuff gets a bit repetitive.

Yeah, Kingdom Hearts was fun. But the Final Fantasy series teetered off after Squaresoft decided to go vocal with the game. That just ruined the whole thing for me.

The only Final Fantasy games I liked are the Tactics ones. They are both have good gameply depth. Plus, I love 'strategy' games that make me feel smart when I can totally dominate the AI.

I liked 7 and 10 and 8 . . . because those are the only ones that I have played.

Asking us not to criticize is like dangling bait in front of us. I hate all of the Final Fantasies, I wish they would live up to their name and be final. I think turn-based fighting is ridiculous for any video game. If you can play the same thing on paper, what's the point? For those of you who play just for the story, please re-evaluate your wallet. A book or a movie both cost much less than a video game, and you can share them with your friends. Besides, going through menus for 20 minutes and then watching an FMV is a poor way to tell any story. If there's some other reason why these Square games are great which I overlooked, please tell me, so I can take your opinion, crumble it up, and ram it down your throat!

Hey, hey, I think RPG's, both turn-based and action-based, are the best kinds of games out there. I just hate the FF series because they show a bunch of sweet eye candy video in the commercials, then, like every other PS2 game, it is so aliased and jaggy as to be painful to watch, and all the footage in the commercials is from cutscenes. NOT GAMEPLAY.
As for Kingdom Hearts, I mean, I'm 28. Come on.

Well, people who don't know what an FMV is or buy a game because it has cool looking movies in it, they deserve to be punished. Everytime I see a game commercial and all they show is FMVs, I know that they're covering something up, and want to buy the game less. RPG's attained perfection in Ocarina of Time, and even then, the game was as much an adventure as it was RPG.

You should really only hate the FF series from 7 onwards then, before that there was no FMV except a few 'spruced up' psx conversions. my rating of the FF's
FF mystic quest: pure crap, wants to be something like zelda and fails miserably
FF: having only played the psx remake I still appreciated it, no character developing plot, just take your team of character classes out into the world and start leveling up at your own pace.
FF2: (psx) First signs of plot evolving, I havent given this a through going over though
FF3: not played
FF4: The first to see daylight on a snes, a bit too boring for my tastes but okay
FF5: This I liked, good opening, interesting characters, sense of humour, good boss fights and remniscent of 80's cartoons, could be the best ff ever until....
FF6: pushing the snes graphics to their limit, nice big sprites, memorable tunes, the largest party of characters to grace any ff, my fave in the now stale series.
FF7: good at the time, one of the few saving graces was the multiple sub games, but the plot was banal, and got even worse in progress, another kudos to this game for killing off a party member (laugh at the people who spent their time levelling her up)
FF8: yawn, hey look it's a stupid version of smallville in a flying military university.
FF9: not played (enough to pass judgement)
FFX: Not a bad effort, some voices are cool (Rikku, Auron) whilst others (tidus, wakka) suck, Kimhari was voiced by someone cool, I forget who. The blitzball game sucked, the main bad guy was uber-camp. Unmemorable characters overall.
FF-X2: have to wait two weeks before this one is released here.
FF tactics: (PSX) not out here, but I played the GBA one and that was okay.
non FF gems that squaresoft made include Chrono trigger (snes) chrono cross, xenogears, parasite eve 1 & 2, Front missions 3 and Vagrant story (all psx)

You all have permission to call me the biggest loser on the face of the earth. Due to hours on imdb.com I discovered that the person the voices Cid in FFX is also the guy that played Friar Tuck in Robin Hood: Prince of Theives (damn, Christian Slater was hot in that movie) . . . and he was also Llyod Burwell on that one TV series that used to be a long time ago called 'Brotherly Love'. Hehehe. That show was so awful.

And, since he was a voice actor on Balto he has a Bacon number of 1.

Hahahaha, I didn't know Cid was played by the good Friar, but then again Auron in FFX and FFX-2 was played by Matt McKenzie who also voiced and Borgoff in "Vampire Hunter-D: Bloodlust".

Auron is in FFX-2 (I havent got it yet, it gets released here on friday) ? I thought he was sent at the end of X. And since I own all the others that got released here to date.....Time to whore more money off to Square (now with added enix, or should that be the other way around)

He's in it, but you don't actually see him, it's just his voice (but I won't tell you where because it would most likely ruin the game for you). Supposively Seymour is in it because at the end credits they list Braska, Seymour, and Auron all in it for voices so I'm just assuming that they were they ones talking to you. If you play it though, try to get it 100% done so you can see the best movie at the end...I didn't but I prolly should have.
