View Full Version : Oh Happy Day!
Yesterday morning I was severely depressed, having sent out some 20-odd resumes and only receiving one reply. That's depressing in itself, but the fact that the rejection came from UPN just compounded my feelings of dejection. I was seriously considering introducing my car to a concrete bridge abbuttment a la Tommy Boy, but then, like a ray of sunshine- the phone rang! Turner Broadcasting is hiring ten operators for their state-of-the-art facility in Atlanta and I'm on their list. I interview next week and will know something before the end of the month.
Plasma screen HDTV monitors, digital touch-screen switchers, routers that actually work like they're supposed to, automated downlink servers, and more than double the salary I'm making now...
I can't wait to tell my boss /forums/images/icons/grin.gif
Oh, and one of the networks I'd be switching?
Cartoon Network...
See mom, I CAN get paid to watch cartoons!!!

Oooh I love that feelin' ! But be careful not to burn the bridge until after you've crossed it.
They already know I'm looking. Hell, everyone is looking. Employees who've put in 20+ years are leaving.
Rats from a sinking ship... When the News Director is running the art department and the first-time GM thinks he knows everything about promotions and the Sales Manager calls master control about putting the Namedropper/bug in during local programming, it's time to leave. And as long as I give two weeks and don't leave before they're up, I get to cash out my vacation time. Six years service = three weeks! Oh, and a personal day...
Just waiting for that other call...
Wow, hope You get that job!
Plus, paid vacation money... WOO-HOO!
So, if You do, what are You going to buy?
Something fun? Something sensible?
Both?
Good luck!

Yeah, good luck. I'm sure you deserve it. It's time the Master Controllers got the respect that fits with the cool job title.
Thanks guys. My girl has got her fingers crossed as well- she's always wanted to move out of the sticks into the big city. As far as spending that fat vacation cash, it'll more than likely go towards a U-Haul... That's about the only downside to this- Turner doesn't pay anything for relocation. But I guess in a way the cash is going towards more respect. Man I can't wait! My final interview is the 22nd.
I just realized, that's the Chinese New Year... I'm not Chinese, but hey, we Irish are firm believers in omens.
Good luck my man! Hope you get the job.
Have fun in that Hot'lanta traffic, when you get out there.
