Why you sorry two timin' mother [censored] ( pun intended )
Congrats ! Seriously ! Happy fathering !
Did you just find out ? Are you going to get the ultrasound to find out if it's a boy or a girl ? Or do you you and Mrs.J.J. like surprises ?
jjcourtright
01-15-2004, 02:23 PM
We found out on the first one, so I don't see why we won't on this one. The thing that I don't get about people not finding out is that no matter what, it is a surprise. It is not as if it could go either way, but by looking to see you collapse the wave function and that is what you are stuck with. It seems to me that delivering a baby is a very tasking time anyway, why add a surprise to that already stressful day.

[/ QUOTE ] Before we found out what Isaac was going to be, I was hoping for a girl. The way that I see it guys, not in all cases but alot of the time, are born with the cool gene. Alot of girls seem to lack this gene. So, I figured that if I had a girl, I could mold her mind so that she would be a cool girl. I saw it as my gift to the world. But now, after having Isaac, I am completely terrified of having a girl. I like to think that I have a pretty good hang of raising a boy, but I have no idea what to do with a girl.
The wife-unit is calling boy. She says that intuitively she can tell what she is having. She was right the first time.

I figure if I ever have one (and one is my limit) that I want it to be a boy so I can name it Jude Roman(insert last name here) I love that name. If I didn't have a boy, I'd sell the girl on the black market. HAHA just kidding, I'd name a girl Adrien. I haven't actually been thinking about chilren's names. I voted girl because that's the way to do it; you have two kids, a girl and a boy, with the boy first so he's the big brother.

04-20-2004, 10:27 PM
That's how it is in my family, well at least for my mom. I have a half sister on my dad's side(but we don't really mention her often . . . after the death threat and all). Let me tell you, that may be how it goes, but it sure does suck. It has some advantages, having an older brother. But for the most part, I get treated badly. We have the same friends for the most part, so that causes problems too. Whichever you have, I hope your older child treats the younger one better than my brother treats me.

04-21-2004, 11:39 AM
Yes, but isn't it a nice thought that if any of those mutual friends got out of line, the protective older brother can jump in and turn their asses into handy-dandy toe warmers?

My brother would just help them in tormenting me, but they wouldn't do that anyway. The friends we share are all guys, they all say that he treats me badly too. For the majority of the time, they'd rather hang out with me, because I'm nicer, and more logical.

Nope, not because of logic, they want to hang out with you because
1) You are a girl
2) You are probably more interesting than your brother
3) You are a girl they may get some action from someday, and your brother does not provide any form of fun sexual tension for them.
TRUST me on this one, as being a girl with almost 100% guy friends since the age of six.

Congrats to you and the wife!
So about a month beforehand you should have a let's name the baby thread. That way should the kid ever complain about what you named him, he can see the long list of what might have been. If my friend's kid, Aidan, ever complains about his name I will tell him about how his mother's co-workers and his own unlce referred to him as Stumbo Bunyion up until he was born.

Well, I do happen to think I'm more interesting than my brother. They have more in common with him though. One of those "friends" that we share is my boyfriend, we were really good friends before we were together. So the part about getting action someday, well in this case is likely. The other two are brothers, one has a girlfriend(who is one of my best friends), and the other one . . . well, just no.
Congrats on the boy JJ. Now you can teach them how to golf . . . not that you wouldn't be able to teach a girl to golf. /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif I like the idea about a thread for naming the kid. (I've always liked the names Jude and Roman). Jude after the Beatles song Hey Jude, and Roman . . . because I like the movie Gladiator and Roman is a really kick ass name.
Four girls in my school are pregnant, its pretty sad. Usually, there might be like one every couple of years, but 4 in one year. Also, there is apparently a 7th grade student who is pregnant. That's just really really disturbing. In my school, one is a senior, 2 juniors, and one sophomore(which there is much debate over whether she is pregnant or not). Its either that, or shes just gotten to be a fatty.
Its really pretty sad, because 3 of these girls will probably have to drop out of school because the guy isn't willing to help them. The senior will graduate, luckily her boyfriend isn't a complete ass.
I'll stop now, I was just thinking about how sad it is.

Never had a dead hooker here, but I have had some passed out drunk women.
I think the method I am using is not quite right. There must be a fine line between drunk enough and too drunk. Just haven't found that yet!
Mighty_Wingman
04-24-2004, 11:04 AM
What works for me is : 2 beers in the first half hour, one beer per hour from then on . You may have to make adjustments based on tolerance/body weight. And I recommend a glass of water between every two beers.
When I stick to this regimen I maintain just the right amount of drunk for hours. The water helps prevent dehydration and an ugly morning hangover.
Good luck !
Matthew
04-24-2004, 11:06 AM
Not for me Wingman, for them! At what point are women drunk enough to convince, yet not pass out or vomit?
Mighty_Wingman
04-24-2004, 11:15 AM
Oh Duuuuuh ! Sorry .
It varies from girl to girl. Again tolerance/body weight.
I once had a roommate that was a bartender so my advice would be to learn to make sweet tasting drinks.(It worked pretty well for him/us) Or when you meet a gal, find out what her favorite drink is and learn to make it, if she's flattered enough by your accomadating nature, you may not need to get her drunk.
Or find a girl that just likes beer, in which case, you've got it made.
