Nice going Hillary.
You're a class act all the way. /forums/images/icons/mad.gif

Hillary and Gandhi (http://www.ny1.com/ny/TopStories/SubTopic/index.html?topicintid=1&subtopicintid=1&contentint id=36213)

Yet another reason why I don't like her.
Where does she get off doing something like that?
Oh wait, She did marry Bill.

What's worse than it being a "stereotypical" and a "racially insencitive" remark, is that it wasn't even close to funny. In fact i don't get it at all.

She's joking about the Indian-people-owning-gas-stations-and-slurpee-stores stereotype. It's pretty sad. Now, if she would have done the whole thing in the Apu voice, THAT would have been classic!! /forums/images/icons/confused.gif

I get that part, i guess i just don't see what the "punchline" is supposed to be.

The punchline is: At least we now understand Bill's taundry pursuit of interns. Hillary's mouth was too full of feet.

So what i have in common with Hillary is Footworship. Hmmm, who would have guessed we would have the same fetish.

Too full of feet to suck dick. Ha, ha, ho.

I didn't like Hilary before simply because she is a Clinton... and I still don't like her even thought I thought the joke was funny.

I'm with Dave. If her joke had been funnier (or funny at all) I would probably be on her side. If she wants to make funny racially insensitive jokes, she needs to take some lessons from Sarah Silverman.

So...
I've been keeping a watch on the media's reaction to Hillary's "joke".
So far, it's turning out exactly as I thought it would.
They are being very, very nice to her. Dare I say the "liberal-democrat friendly- media" is trying to bury this one?
Yup, they are.
Now some of You know I don't side with one party or another. But if this was uttered by a Republican, regardless of gender, creed, race, etc. There would probably be an outcry for that person's resignation.
At the very least, we would hear a lot of pissing and moaning. No matter what, She did something that was very wrong, and She's getting off easy.
It really pisses Me off to see the double standard B.S. that the "news" outlets are pulling right now.
I believe the only news source that is not avoiding this one is FOX news, but they are republican-conservative minded.

[/ QUOTE ]True, but in fairness, lame comments usually make for lame television, even the offensiveness of it wasn't enough to make that joke interesting.

[/ QUOTE ]There's a couple of our society's traits at play here:

1. Minorities have a greater allowance for bigotry. From the misogyny of black culture to elitism of asian culture, that's just how it works, a white man saying the same thing would have a greater impact, no matter the party.

2. Democrats are the only option for the discriminated. What's his face was made to resign largely because the Republican party is holding an unprecedented percentage of the minority vote and the they're nervous even the slightest show of bigotry will send them running back to the Democrats. If a Democrat is shown to be bigoted, the minorities are never going to vote Republican in response.

It's a two party system, there's nothing a Democrat can say that'll seem worse than the stances Rebulicans have traditionally taken on minority issues (most recently affirmative action), so her comment just doesn't have much significance any way around.

...and every media source is biased as hell, one way or another, most American news sources are heavily biased towards sensationalism and whatever will cause the fewest accusations of favortism. Republicans will sneer at their treatment of Hillary, but many Americans like her and her multitudinous detractors just aren't vocal enough for this to earn more coverage.

Again B.S. to a degree . When Jesse Jackson stated He could'nt get votes in NYC because it was as He called it, "Hymietown", the media was all over Him.

What!? Are you serious? Were you and "jack sparrow" seperated at birth?

No, with a mostly liberal controlled media, what they say is not going to get out there period.
I think you are failing to see the fact that she is getting special treatment.

I was mostly with you until this statement. Democrats have done nothing to help minorities since the late 60's. While I am a supporter of affirmative action it affects such a small number of minorities that anyone who makes that a major point of supporting one party over the other is just lazy. The democrats are a party that is good at scaring people into thinking that republicans are evil... and that is about it.
