Today, Dec. 1, is World Aids Day. It is a day to reflect on those lost and those affected by the virus. There are many events going on in the United States, including benefit concerts, one with headliner Beyonce, in New Yourk City.

Of course the man picks the day after Thanksgiving weekend to be World AIDS day. He wants everyone to be too bloated off of left-over turkey and stuffing to care about the international health crisis!

Fuckin' man.

I highly recommend picking up "And the Band played On" by Randy Shilts(?). Awesome book. Terrifying and informative. The movie was a great adaptation, but the book is worth the read.

The funniest part about AIDS day is it's my sister's birthday. The sad thing is the certain pride she seems to take in that.

Are you asking how do we feel about Aids? or Aids Day?

Here's the breakdown:

AIDS: very bad
AIDS Day: good in a sad way

I had another wonderful lecture by my ethics professor, on another topic he feels is so important that he must parade around with protest puppets like an idiot robbing whatever dignity a philosophy junkie might have. Anyway, the theory goes like this:

There is no relation between HIV and the AIDS virus, and cures are progressing slowly because the fundamental philosophy is wrong.

Now, I think its good that people don't believe everything they hear, but, c'mon, do you really think scientists would have spent 30 years researching a cure if they weren't quite sure how the disease worked? I had to sit through an hour of that, and in third person I pity myself.

This jogged my memory...

Yesterday there was a big sign in the airport that said something about World Aids Day and then "Include AIDS in your Workplace".

I think they meant to say Include Aids Awareness in the Workplace. At least I hope that is what they meant. If not I know for SURE I don't want to work in that place.
