View Full Version : Gift giving dilemma...
My girl wants lingerie for Christmas, which is great. Really, REALLY great because the stuff she wants is like... really really REALLY great. But part of me feels a little... hesitent to go make the purchase. That part says "These are for YOU, not her!" And the part of me that has greatly ignored the women's-lib-burn-your-bra rhetoric replies "Hell yeah it's for me, you f*cking wussy. I like the garters and black lace and thigh highs and bustiers and..."
"And a girl can be just as sexy in a pair of boxers and a t-shirt. Chastity belts can also be quite the turn on."
"Chastity belt? That's sick. You mean to tell me those black leather knee-high Fuck-Me boots didn't do it for you the other night?"
"Well, maybe a little..."
"A little?!?!? The only reason I keep you around is because you somehow know how to connect with the ladies. Read between those lines you f*cking jag-off..."
And the voices go on and on while I stand there in Victoria's Secret, trying to remember my fiancee's cup size...
But possibly the greatest dilemma I'll face all season- thong or french cut.

Well, if you can't remember her cup size, just ask the ladies working there if you can hold onto their breasts. Maybe you can find one who's breasts fit your hand like your fiance's.
I've tried that- and it's amzing how fast a restraining order can appear out of seemingly thin air... I kid, I kid. I'm more of a leg man anyway.

For some reason, my ladies have never wanted me to go with them to Victoria's Secret. They like my imput, like to know what I want to see, but they do not want me there. Perhaps it's because of my tendency to try things on before I buy.

In an effort to both make a suggestion and pimp stuff at my sites store, may I suggest one of these T-shirts? (http://www.cafeshops.com/dangerseekers/198989)

You guys crack me up. Especially Matt, because I am now picturing him with a bra over his t-shirt.
Unless you and your girlfriend are the same size you could not possibly be buying for yourself anyway. I like lingerie, so I have requested it before. My old boyfriend had no problem going in there alone, and his confidence was really sexy.
My advice, if you are feeling really uncomfortable, is to pick a time when the store is slow (like before noon). Ask for help from the salesgirl and be honest. Say you are a little nervous because your finacee wants some lingerie but you don't know quite what to buy. Ask her for a few suggestions of what has been most popular for the season, and bring her sizes on a piece of paper. A girlfriend of mine worked there and she LOVED questions like that from guys, because it allowed her to show the stuff she liked in the new lines. No embarassment. Heck, I just asked the sales girl that the other day.
In the hundreds of times in Victoria's Secret I always see men in there. What we are really thinking? ..."damn, look that that guy in here getting that stuff for his girlfriend/wife. Why in the hell doesn't my man do that?" /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

I don't know what I would do. But let me tell you if you can find something that makes your girlfriend this hot, both of you win.

I agree with Zens. Just go in and ask them what they recommend. The salegirls there all get a free pair whenever they launch a new bra or whatnot so they can really give you good recommendations. And even if you don't know her exact size they can help. You're no the only male on the planet to go in there and ask for help.
For a future note for yourself, Fredricks of Hollywood stores will let the guys go in with the girls in the changing room. My cousin gave gift certificates to their to all of his married couple friends last year for christmas so it's a gift for both. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

if you are feeling really uncomfortable

I'm not at all uncomfortable going into the shops- it's Christmas morning when we're sitting there with her parents and she opens up a box with a black corset and matching garter belt that I get a little red in the face and start to sweat. I could just have her open them at my house, but then her parents will think I'm a cheap bastard when I show up with only one or two presents for their daughter. If she'd move in we could open our presents to each other and not worry about the parents. And too, I could dig in her dresser and get her cup size without her dad walking in on me... Damn my memory- I can rattle off the coordinates and times for nearly every single one of the 73 satellite feeds and refeeds I take at work but I can't remember the one truly important thing in my life...

The only thing that makes me uncomfortable at VS is that they try and sell you 50 other things and sign you up for some kind of special membership every time you go in there. I guess this happens at all retail outlets nowadays though- is there anywhere left where I can just buy what I want and leave without getting harangued?

I have the solution. I have found it works well. Get her something that you find hot, but is "classy" at the same time. You find it hot, so you're satisfied. It is something that she will like whether it is gettin-it-on time or not. And, it lessens the embarassment around her parents. I would suggest something like this:

You'd be surprised how good that looks. I've gotten many compliments from the nice men in the white suits who help me into my straightjacket.

Very nice choice JJ! ...it comes in light blue by the way. One of my only purchases there in the last few months.
Matt, if I get tired of it you can borrow it to wear over your clothes. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Okay, now read that sentence again. One more time. It seems to me like you've gone and manufactured a dilema. Read the sentence again. Is it starting to sink in? Good, now go pick out something nice, or naughty, you lucky dog.
That's the true dilema... naughty or nice. Should I get her something to wear every day or... every night? (I'm opting for every night /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif )
