View Full Version : What's everyone's User Name mean?

I mean, obviously, if it's your name, no backstory is needed, but if not, how'd you come up with it?

Wrong Forum, dork.

But mine is my name. (I explained it anyway.)

But, mine is my name as well.

Um, HELLO, I'm writing a column ABOUT THIS.

jjcourtright
04-25-2003, 04:34 PM
What? I don't understand? You are writing a column about my screen name?

BrianLynch
04-25-2003, 04:36 PM
I was kidding, I put it in the wrong forum and I'm sorry. But I'll turn it into a column if you want.

Ryall
04-25-2003, 04:42 PM
"But I'll turn it into a column if you want."

Yeah, yeah...so you say. BRIOGRAPHY is like a sweet, sweet liason with a foreign hottie on a white sand beach on a tropical summer's eve -- pleasant, loving and oh-so-fleeting. Now she's just a distant memory in my head, the thought of her loving, soft caresses, her melodic voice whispering delicately in my ear, her stubbly adam's apple and...um, I'm still talking about BRIOGRAPHY, by the way...

My screen name means that I might be the seventh son of a seventh son, but I'm definitely your third man. My next ode following the Dave Grohl one will be to Jack and Meg White for their appearances on CONAN this week.

jjcourtright
04-25-2003, 04:42 PM
Well for the sake of the people that read the site, let me tell you the story behind my screen name. You see, it is my name...Wait I already covered that. Well good luck stretching that to column length.

DarthMaulRat
04-25-2003, 04:43 PM
The name just popped into my head when I was thinking of my two favorite things: Smith movies and Star Wars. I was too young for the orignal trilogy, but I've seen EPI in theaters about 10 times and EPII in theaters about 15. I watched the Special Editions in theaters at least 20 times between the three. It's an unhealthy obsession, but I have the 'thin gene' so no one ever knows how big of a geek I actually am.

As for Smith, my favorite movie of his is actually Clerks, but unfortuantely I couldn't think of a great SW character that fitted in with the movie title. Clerkbacca? Clerk3P0? Jabba the Clerk? None of them sound right.

DarthMaulRat is such a smooth name that it puts Shaft to shame. Can you dig it?

BrianLynch
04-25-2003, 04:45 PM
You could call yourself "What_A_Wookie" which is a CLERKS reference AND a STAR WARS reference.

DarthMaulRat
04-25-2003, 04:49 PM
Yeah, but that's too vague for a 1-dimensional person like me. I can't even tell which color shirt someone is wearing unless they're standing next to a color wheel or a rainbow.

Robbo_the_Hood
04-25-2003, 04:53 PM
Well, I'm a big Rat Pack fan and my favorite Rat Pack movie is Robin and the Seven Hoods. Sinatra's character is called Robbo throughout the movie. Not only that, but Sublime's second album is Robbin' the Hood , and I'm a big Sublime fan as well. I thought both Sinatra and Sublime were well represented with the name. And keeping it well within the realm of the Askewniverse, Sublime's "Smoke Two Joints" is on the Mallrats soundtrack.

My college roommates and I would go on random road trips, and we'd always call out something on our way out like "Ramblers, let's get ramblin'!" One day somebody said Dager Seekers, let's seek some danger!" It stuck.

Later we remembered it was a sketch from Kentucky Fried Movie, and not a very politically correct one, but we'd been using it for so long we hadn't thought about that. We'd registered a domain, started building a fan base, and figured why not?

Omaru

My screen name comes from a really old method in the 1940's when france invaded japan and made them eat rubber chickens..no wait, my name comes from a cartoon about these 4 brothers who morph into dragons, and there must have been around 30+ episodes. anyway one was called Umaru and one was called Owaru, I thought rere was one called Omaru, but I found out much later. ANyway I needed a nick for UT and Omaru_SD became my nick (SD for sitting duck, cause I sucked at UT) since then I've grown to use omaru for practically all my creature comforts.

I used to play for a paintball team in the early 90's called "Damage Inc". There is a song by Metallica called that and somewhere in it there is a mention of "Razorback". A friend of mine found out that I played for this team and started calling me "RB".

I asked him "What the feck is 'RB'???"

apollolove
04-26-2003, 01:20 AM
i use apollolove for a few reasons. when i was first invited to the internet, my nick at the time was palo...i was in the army at the time and learning spanish (palo means stick in spanish and i'm skinny). but when i tried to set up an email address palo was already taken. so that's where paloluv came in. i couldn't think of anything else. i became paloluv because there were too many people using palo (@hotmail).

then, a friend and i decided to play with html and make a website. her online name was sYcPuPi. i don't know why, but our name for the website bacame puppy-love. so that is my story

apollolove
04-26-2003, 01:23 AM
wait....that makes no sense..i didn't finish the story...i must be drunk.

so anyways, sYcPuPi decided to add our names to the website...i was out of town for the weekend and she didn't want to add my true username to the website without my consent so she changed paloluv into apollolove....end of story. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

To tell you the truth I have no idea how I came up with my name. Just kind of got into my head one day. When I started to play video games online a few years back I just wanted to use a name that wasn't my real one. Came up with this.. and have used it since on a lot of things(didn't like it at first, but after you use a name for 3 years it grows on you).

So pretty much I am just lazy and can't be bothered to be any more creative than Tuskinashi.

Two parts. My first name is Susan, and I despise being called Sue. I corrected people by saying 'zen' meaning Sue + Zen = Susan. Unable to accept a two-syllable name, my college friends started calling me Zen...and it stuck.

7's? I have a VERY disturbing amount of sevens in my life starting with 7/7/77 and working onward. It's good that I am not superstitious.

bartleby
04-27-2003, 07:35 PM
My name is Bart. I wanted my screenname to be something other than just my plain old name, so for a while I used Bart-man. That got really old, so I switched to bartleby a few years back.

I sort of regret going with that particular screenname because it now seems as though it will ever be associated with Kevin Smith & his films. Registering with it at this board makes it all that worse as I expect that most people are just waiting for me to start posting "You are the ones who are the ball-lickers" or crap like that.

Outer1
04-27-2003, 10:30 PM

I was going to say something about killing someone and taking their skin, identity, and shitty name. But I'm tired and I want to go eat lunch. So, it's my shitty name with 'athan' at the end. It's just yet another way to confuse people that try to pick one of the variations of my name. (Shawn, Shaun, Sean, Sion, Shon, Siawn, etc.)

jjcourtright
04-28-2003, 03:26 PM
Shjon Podein plays for the St. Louis Blues. But you can be excused for not knowing that. I think hockey players just make up names. Like Roy being pronounced Wah.

Sean_Cauley
04-28-2003, 03:39 PM
Of course, everyone knows that S-E-A-N is the ONE TRUE SPELLING of this name of ours.

Kidding. Actually, Shawnathan, I feel your pain. I can't tell you how many times I give my name at a food place and the receipt prints out with "Shawn" at the top. I get so frustrated, even though it doesn't matter one whit how they spell it, so long as I can hear when my food's ready.

As for my screen name, I probably would have gone with something cutesy (I've been toying with adopting "Mista Kryptonite" as a rap name, even though I don't rap), but since I write articles for the site, I figured I'm best off using my real name for times when I might want to discuss them.

Shawnathan
04-28-2003, 04:14 PM
Hey, spelling a name phonetically is nice and lazy. It's the American way! I think I'm getting a little choked up.

Dude, I'd read an article by "Mista Kryptonite". Going into it would be a "Wow, this is going to be HORRIBLE, I can't wait!" feeling. Then, when I saw that you could actually write, I'd feel kind of let down.

ok, many moons ago i used to play Shadowrun, had a wolf shaman that needed a name. wanted to call him 'fenris' but figured it'd be cool if he had a real name that was similar. Fineous Fingers was a friend of mine from back in the day of 300 baud modems and bbs' while Kyle Reese was a childhood hero. slap em together and you get Fineous Reese which shortens to Fenris with a little finagling. stopped playing pnp rpg's a while back but i liked the name so it came with me.

I am a fan of George Lucas. I needed a name for games like Half-Life, CS, RTCW etc. So since I knew that George's first film was THX1138 I took it upon myself to use it. George will also place this movie title in strategic places in his movies. American Graffiti has it on a license plate, SW EPI had it on a droid backpack etc. Also I found out it is great to confuse people in the First-person shooter games. They will be typing to me and instead of putting THX1138 they put thx. This will cause some people to ask Thanks for what. I believe that is my story and I think I would like to stick to it. I guess if everyone is doing it, I will too. My name is obviously from A Clockwork Orange, one of the most brilliant movies of all time. A Droogan Leader is one who leads Droogs. And to honor young Alex de Large, I will post one of the many great quotes from the movie:

"Oh bliss! Bliss and heaven! Oh, it was gorgeousness and gorgeousity made flesh. It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now. As I slooshied, I knew such lovely pictures!"

Thanks, much thanks, and gratitude to the late Stanley Kubrick, for his vision.

If you don't like my name, or Stanley Kubrick, Tarantino fan, why don't you start a thread in the off topic section? You will get skewered, because, of course, you also must know that was a very stupid thing for you to say. To quote Dim, in a bit of an ironic fashion, "Big bulgy yarblokos you have."

Most modern gangster movies owe a great deal to that movie, including, as psychofiend pointed out, Tarantino's work. A Clockwork Orange was landmark. But it's okay, I'm sure you didn't know that, or that I'm used to having to put up with stupid [censored] like that from people who don't know what they're talking about. Why don't you just stick to what you know?

You probably haven't even seen all of Tarantino's movies either.. I'll bet you just thought it was a cool name, didn't you. It's okay, I don't accept you, but I will make an effort to look past your comments from now on, because I understand. And what does it matter what I know about you? If the world was full of people like you, we'd all make half-assed categorical judgments about things we don't know much about.

Oh well..moving on.

Ok, but no love, because love will get in the way of killing if you recall sexual frustration is the key according to

Natural Born Killers was pretty good. Tommy Lee Jones gives a downright funny performance as the warden. Tom Sizemore gave a pretty good performance as well, and so did Woody Harrelson. But the best performance in the movie is probably by Juliette Lewis.

Hey, I was an extra in Cecil B! Rock on!

They didn't ask us to stay celibant during production either!

My favorite is the porn star craving some good sex and cecil is like, "of course I want to, but I can't." Her best line was definitely "When I was ten, on Christmas eve, my whole family [censored] me under the Christmas tree."

"jingle balls, jingle balls."

Great movie. Proof positive that we need more gerbil humor in today's cinema.

I just figured he was as unoriginal as the previous 44 idiots that picked that user name. Who knew that 45 was his lucky number. That must have been how many times the doctors dropped him on his head in the delivery room.

We're all set then, let's silverfuck them in the heads. Two shots, one in the head one in the chest to make sure they are dead.

I really don't believe in wasting ammo like that. I believe in the one shot, one kill method.

Oh, did I forget to mention that I don't have any ammo right now?

anyone who's played Soldier of fortune 1 or 2 or metal gear solid 2 knows how much more fun it is to drag the process out, hit all the none vitals tthen the vitals

ratm1966

That is true. Right now, I am renting BloodRayne, and it is funner to jump on a bad guy and suck his blood for a bit, get off of them, then jump right back on. It sort of draws out the killing process.

Nope. Never heard of them, but I will check them out. I do like the movie "Sniper" though. Oh yeah, and "Sniper 2".

I was going to pick Jayandsilentbob46 but changed my mind.

Really though, I adopted this name on the original poopshoot boards when someone pointed out that my posts are either so inane or pointless that nobody replies to them, thus killing the thread. Let the silence commence.

Im a Fan Fiction writer (yeah, im a dweeb, but you know what? [censored] you) and im working on this story where me and a friend visit movie and tv universes, and collect technologies from every world, and help them with their problems, such as help the USS Enterprise in a battle against an unknown species, or stop an evil demon take over the world in the Ghostbusters Dimension.

anyway, the company i "create" is the one that helps build the dimensional transdecending "Time Machine" (its emulated after the DeLorean Time Machine from "Back to the Future") is called Paratech Industries (Paradimensional Technological)

if anyone wants to read it, here it is. (http://www.fanfiction.net/read.php?storyid=1133763)

My family comes from the west part (or end) of Ireland. And Mick is both my nickname (short for michael) and a derogatory for an Irishman. Hence, WestEndMick.
