Sorry to our foreign friends, but which movies are best for Thanskgiving? Need to rent a few to keep us amused while the cooks are cooking.

The only ones I can think of off the top of my head are Planes, Trains and Automobiles and Home For the Holidays.

I am actually going to see the Cat in the hat with the rest of my family tommorow. I think it will be nice to watch a movie with less than 100 eff words and no sex or violence for once. I haven't watched one "family" movie since i saw Finding Nemo the night of my first drunken post.

All I can think of is A Christmas Story, but that's Christmas /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

I think TBS is doing a Big Blockbuster Marathon of movies that cost a whole lot to make, like T2. Not exactly a movie I associate with Thanksgiving, but hey, I guess I'm grateful Judgment Day hasn't arrived yet /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

I know I'll catch hell for this, but...
I was always partial to "Dutch". It has some classic moments, mixed in with the syrup...Plus it teamed Ed O'Neill and Ethan Embry before Ethan was grown and there was Dragnet.

I've never seen Dutch. I didn't realize the kid was Ethan Embry. Ethan is cool. I'm using him as my excuse to go see Timeline even though I heard it's bad. I still want to see it.

The very best Thanksgiving movie of all time. ( And let there be NO debate about this ! ) "Planes Trains and Automobiles ". You're all set.

Most new Disney movies (Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo) work well at family gatherings.

I probably have no idea what I'm doing here exactly, but I still suggest the BTTF trilogy and Groundhog Day. They can just be watched on nay national Holiday.

I know I'm gonna sound like an idiot but what exactly is the BTTF Trilogy?

I hope it's not stupid because I forgot yesterday -- I knew it was at the end of the week, but not which day. The answer is yes. Thanksgiving is tomorrow, Thursday.

For those outside the U.S. . Thanksgiving is always the last Thursday of November so the date changes from year to year.

Thanksgiving and Christmas should be pushed VERY FAR APART. I always thought we should combine July 4th and Thanksgiving into one big week in July called America Week or some crap like that. Everybody gets off work and school. And we exchange stuff or anything like that, just America week. Towns could have Fairs on AMerica Week and Soccer/Football/Sports events for family and friends.

Why would anyone play soccor during America week?

Anyway to the Thanksgiving movie, even though its set during the summer, What about Bob is a great movie to watch.

I have a high threshold for stupidity in movies, but that one really tested me. What about Bob, for those who don't know, can be VERY frustrating!

Every time I watch that movie, as much as I love his acting, I want to strangle Bill Murray.

I know exactly what you mean. As far as a movie testing my threshold though it would have to be " Meet the Parents"

Ah yes, 'Dutch' is a cool movie. I think 'Small Soldiers' is a good one to watch this time of year too.
