Uhhh, it's really easy to rip on something and say "it sucks" without giving any reasons.
How about saying what you didn't like about the game? Did you not like the deep and intuitive control system? The realistic driving physics? The top-notch soundtrack? The funny dialogue? The well-produced cutscenes? The ability to use custom soundtracks? What exactly makes this game a "crock of shit"?
Oh, and your grammar and punctuation, not to mention your spelling, are making my head hurt.
I still vote for the sack of wet sand.

ok funny guy i hated the fact that you watched more than you played the shit car steering the shortness of it oh and the cheassy as fuck one liners that make little to no sence happy

Well, after wading through that pseudo-writing you call English, you have 2 complaints. You didn't like the dialogue and you thought the game was too short.
1. Dialogue- get over it. It's a video game. In case you didn't notice, all the main character's lines were stolen pop culture references. IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE LAME!
2. Length of game- I guarantee you didn't play all three endings, nor did you get the 30 dog bones that will let you play as Snoop Dogg. The game has at least 40 hours of gameplay if you play every episode and through to every ending.
And in case you misread the tone of my earlier post, I wasn't trying to be funny. I meant it about the sack of wet sand.

The reason I don't like it is because it is supposed to compete with GTA 3 and Vice City and yet it doesn't come close to them. Plus, I hate the stock music choices. Ugh. The game is ok and fun in places but the fact that you can complete it in a week makes this game a rental only for me.

dude u wernt paying attention i hated the driving to, the one liners were ment to be corney ok but at times he said them were realy Inappropriate and made me pissed off. Look i was kinda looking forward to this game but it such a let down even more than The Getaway. Oh and no i didnt play all three endings cos i had it on rental and that was enough for me not buy it.

You're right RB, I think it is supposed to compete with GTA but it really is a different game- a lot deeper in all 3 control schemas, better pinpoint aiming, etc. However, anyone buying this and expecting to get GTA is in for a major letdown. I bought this, flipped it in a week, then sold it back to defray some of the cost of the GTA 2-pack, which I am finding to be a lot more fun.

Speaking of rental only , did anyone play " S.W. Rebel Strike"? This to me is the biggest dissappointment in gaming history , because of the parts where you're running around outside of a vehicle and you can't aim an enemy right beside you shooting you. Instead, the automatic targeting system, targets an enemy 100 feet away that isn't even aware of you or is on the other side of a rock (or some other obstruction ) and can't even see you. It's maddeningly stupid especially when you take into account the game grades you for shot accuracy. I could almost tolerate this if it were only in a couple missions but this travesty is woven into almost every single one. What makes this so painful is that I really enjoyed the first two games in this series. And they have forced me to renig on my unconditional love.
Sorry to go off on a rant here and stray from the topic at hand but I had to get that off my chest.

If you have someone to play the 2-player game with then this is one of the best games to own. When my brother and I get together we can play this baby for hours. So much fun.

Sadly, I do not have a brother or another controller, but I can see where it could be fun in flight missions. I guess I might be missing out on the best aspect of the game.

I finally decided against buying True Crime. First because there are a ton of games coming out that I want to play. Second because I'm still playing way too much Madden and Simpson's Hit and Run.
Simpson's is funny and unapologetically a bad rip-off of GTA.

I think I'd rather own the getaway than true crime since its almost ready for a platinum release, but since I hate that game. I would realistically probably end up buying tiger woods 2004 now instead.

My bro bought True Crime and he likes it because it is 'really hard.' He thinks he is the best at video games, but I still have to remind him that he can't beat the Harry Potter game. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif That's my game!
As for new games, I have Mario Kart: Double Dash, not it is way better than the Mario Kart for 64 because it is way more challenging the higher cc power you go up on. I really like it though. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

True Crime is now one of my favorite games, ever. It is very realistic and there are a lot more streets and highways than both GTA games put together. The music and one-liners are pretty bad so I ended up turing down the game, but other than that, best game ever.

I liked the Simpsons Hit and Run for about 45 minutes. Then, after hearing whoever was driving repeat the same 5 catchphrases over and over, I got bored and sold it to my buddy to play with his girlfriend. I did like one of Smither's lines, though:
"I dented your car! Of course, I dented mine too, but, nevertheless....I dented your car!"
Oh, and I would like to see the exclusive Itchy and Scratchy video that is unlocked when you collect all the collector cards, but I just didn't see myself having the patience....

XIII is reviewed in this week's GAME ON column.
I dug True Crime for the most part, i enjoyed the deepness of the fighting and driving systems, and the design of the world. Then again, i liked THE GETAWAY, so what do i know?
All of these supposed "GTA Clones" still have something to them that draws me in, and for the most part, i enjoy them for what they are. They entertain me enough, keep me occupied, and i have fun playing them for the most part. Of course, out of all of the "rip offs" released, Simpson's Hit & Run is my favorite. It just doesn't get any better than that.
Well, as far as GTA rip offs it doesn't. There are a few better games out there now. Like PRINCE OF PERSIA or MANHUNT. Man, MANHUNT is sick but addictive. I love it.
And, shameless plug number 2, that one's reviewed this week too.

XIII looks like the coolest concept for a typical FPS. MANHUNT is another game that I have been looking forward to playing, so you covered two games this week that I have been considering.
Sounds like I need to check them out.

We all know the best games ever were in the Megaman series, especially the super Nintendo Games.

I got to play a couple of the simpsons missions and it was great, reminded me more of games like driver and stuntman than a gta game though cause you get asked if you want to restart instead of having to re-initiate the mission yourself so perhaps its more linear. I did like the use of shortcuts though and just getting out of the car and kicking people is always fun too. my first favoruite gta/manhunt/getaway whatever game was Headhunter. Sega have aways made some fairly cool games. just never the system to match the hype with.

XIII uses pixel shading to make it look like a comic book, right? If so, I think it takes a lot away from that type of a game.

I don't see why cell shading detracts what kind of game it is, I remember the fear effect games on the PSX having some gory moments that looked fantastic. Games that are cell shaded don't instanly suck, its all down to gameplay.I could list a few decent cell shaded games
1. Fear effect 2 (psx)
2. Sheep, dog & wolf (psx)
3. Auto Modellista (ps2)
4. XIII (xbox)
5. Dark Chronicles (ps2)

Those crazy grafitti-roller-blade games that started on Dreamcast and carried over to XBOX were sweet....what the hell were they called? I only bring it up because they were cel-shaded...

damn I can't think all that comes to mind is agressive inline but it was before that, I'm so tempted to get a dreamcast though, I really want to play shenmue 1 & 2 among some other titles.

Jet Grind Radio...that was it. A warning about Shenmue, though.....snoooooooooooooozefest. Seriously.

The games you're thinking of are Jet Grind Radio (DC) and Jet Set Radio Future (xbox). They are both great cel shaded games.
Back to the whole true crime/gta thing. I haven't played True Crime but i've been told that if you stray from your missions and start running people over or whatever, it will decrease your "good cop" rating and affect the ending that you see. At least that is the way it was explained to me.
True Crime also takes a stab at Rockstar games. I remember seeing a screen shot of a billboard that said "Jockstrap", "J*" and a close up of a pink jockstrap. I've been looking for a link to the picture but I can't seem to find it anymore.

I know this strays from True Crime, but i just reinstaled Max Payne and downloaded The Matrix mod, it is really cool,
there is one coming for Max Payne 2 i think.
you can get the mod from http://www.fileplanet.com/

In max payne 2 theres a picture from the first game of max with the kung fu mod on.
also there is a radio play that mirrors max payne's events and one bit goes "I had a permanent grimace on my face" which I thought was hilarious.
Good game, but the last boss was really hard. A bit like the first, but you have much more tarps to snipe at, and you can't stay still either cause the guy is lobbing dynomite down at you.

For my opinion on XIII, read Game On! /forums/images/icons/wink.gif It's pretty much just what I would say about it. It's a fun game and I plan on playing it all the way through.
Damn do I want to check out Manhunt. Rockstar rules.
