When you think of Mike Myers, you think of the funny guy who kissed Madonna on SNL or the guy who brought the Austin Powers and Shrek movies to life.

However, in the Cat in the Hat, he brought more of a mix of his characters from Austin Powers to Fat Bastard in his feline routine. During some moments during the film, with toothpicks holding up my eyelids, I had to sit back and think, what type of movie am I watching here?

The movie first of all did not follow the book, and the annoyance of Kelly Preston's (love her) 50s June Clever routine was old and dull.

Dakota Fanning is one of those actresses that are so cute when they are young, but in this film her cuteness is out the door and in comes annoyance.

Spencer Breslin, lets not get to that issue.

Overall, the film I did not think was supposed to be drawn to the 'kid' audience, but the more adult and mature crowd. With some sexual innuendos and adult related references.

Overall, the movie sucked and I really do not recommend it, but I saw this with a friend's child who is four and she really enjoyed it. I'm still thinking to myself, why?

Now, Love Actually, there is a movie. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

My, this is the first time you've ever spoken so abbrasively about anything. I'm kinda scared of you now, but I'm also a little turned on...

A whip? Can I call you Doctor Jones? Of course, that would make me Sallah.

No, you were right to post that. What a dreadful movie.

I haven't seen it yet, probably never will, but what I have seen is two little girls in the Waldenbook store fawning over all the Dr. Seuss books they had on display because they had just seen the movie. They were all like, "Mom, buy this one! And this one! Please?"

It was so heartwarming and sweet that I almost hesitated before purchasing my ultra-hardcore xxx porno magazine. Almost. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

That last part was fake, but the rest really happened.

My friend's four-year old loved it! Her brother was cat in the hat for Halloween. She was all excited to go.

But the movie was like, shitty. Very not well made and I hate the people for making this movie and ruining the little childhood memories of this book I had left. CURSES! /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

they should rename it: "the cat in tim burton's head while on an acid trip."

ya..it was horrible. but i don't know if the problem should be blamed on mike myers. i have to admitt i chuckled a few times at him, he actually saved me from walking out...

Chris, you should at least be happy that you already knew it was going to suck. And the fact there can't be too many more Dr Suess books to make into terrible films.

and Ilovepapasmurf: Shrek was pretty much fat bastard minus the vulgarity, but the film was still good though I guess.

You can't go wrong with Fat Bastard.... He's dead sexy.
