Finally got a chance to rent it this weekend (I know, Johnny-Come-Lately, right?), and let me just say how disappointed I was. I saw Best In Show and thought it was frigging hilarious. Now, I didn't see waiting for Guffman, but I liked BIS, so I rented A Mighty Wind. Man, it wasn't even close to being as funny as BIS. Oh well, I guess you can't win 'em all....(I did like the music though). What did everyone else think?
I liked it, but you are right it was the weakest of the three. You have to love Levi as the spaced out "Ozzy" type.

Personally, i loved a Mighty Wind, and it's one of my favorites, right up there with Spinal Tap. Of course, i guess you have to be more than slightly familiar with folk music to get a lot of the jokes in the flick. There's so much out and out parody in the groups in the film, as well as the styles of music from each group, that makes the film (as well as the amazing soundtrack) so much fun. I was raised on folk music (my parents being the hip cats that they were, lol) so the movie was a hoot and a half for me. Still, being in community theater, WAITING FOR GUFFMAN is my fave of the three overall.
Best part of MIGHT WIND. The fact that THE FOLKSMEN is really SPINAL TAP. Apparently, when Spinal Tap was on tour recently, they opened for THEMSELVES as The Folksmen. Invariably, folks expecting satanic rock and getting three old looking folk guys booed them off stage. So they leave, they came back on as the Tap. Brilliant comedy, and until the movie came out, no one was the wiser.

Did anyone else see the live show? Frigging amazing. Everyone kept in character, and got just a ton of laughs. Dare I say, it was funnier than the movie. There was no dramatic subplot.

I LOVED mighty wind!
Best In Show was way funny, but I really enjoyed the flick.
The only downfall, is I kept waiting to see Principal Skinner play the bass, then I look ...
