Fun games this week kids...i know they're not the BIG releases from the past weeks, but i'm still waiting for my copies to review. It'd be nice if thy sent these things in a timely manor, but i digress...
Enjoy the column, and as always, i appreciate the comments...

I was thinking that the Karaoke game would be cool, thanks to your review I will be checking it out for our next drunk night at home.

I will be playing SmackDown!5 tomorrow, and hopefully amazon will dispatch my copy by then too. I cant recall being psyched about much else at the moment.

Good stuff. Can't wait for the True Crime review. Is playing as Snoop Dogg really the kind of experience I want in a game?

Smackdown is good. Unfortunately, I'll never be pumped about a wrestling game ever again. My best friend has bought every Wrestlemania, Smackdown, and any other wrestling game you can think of, and worn them clean out. I don't even like wrestling that much anymore, except when Stacey Kiebler comes out /forums/images/icons/grin.gif
By the way, nicely done article, Ian /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
i bought the first few smakdown games i even bought wat i think was the first ever game for smackdown but its boring to me now

I've played them all and I can say I like this one, the new control system takes some getting used to, but new game modes are welcome though it takes a while in a match to see some blood, the CAW seems like 90% SD4 stuff with new 10% on top. Which is good in way cause it means I can build all my old crew. But I've also seen parts that suggest I can make some other characters who I wanted to make.

What you're saying, with 10% of the game actually being 'new' stuff, is why I don't like wrestling games anymore. I guess if you're a serious fan you notice the small things, but I can't help but think you're getting ripped off. It's comparable to the Simpsons when the Itchy and Scratchy movie came out, and the commercial said there was 35% new footage. It's got such a recycled (although somewhat refined each time) feel to it. Doesn't that get old?

The Smackdown series is nearing the best it can be, so its new games are more like roster updates. If each new version of Madden sells a million copies, then Smackdown can perform similarly. I think that one good wrasslin' game per generation is all a fan really needs. If you have 3-4 players, then a wrestling game never gets old.

It was just the create a wrestler parts that looked the same as before, but I can say I've made some characters I never dreamed of making before and they look pretty decent (jay performing ultimate warriors moves)
as darth said ingame its more up to date rosters, now I dont have to put up with some sucky characters but then theres some equally annoying new characters (goldberg anyone?)
some career mode plots are taken from years old storylines (smashing up a tourbus?) and recent ones (being stabbed with a pen and forced to sign a contract in my own blood)
there is so much I welcome. Droog overall, its about 40% new game, but old movesets for non existant characters are nice too. And cashing in on Legends of wrestling they included 12 old school guys (like Jimmy snuka, Leigion of doom and the million dollar man)
