I'm cofused are we naming actors that have only been in the biz for 5 years or what...

Well, here are my top 5 actors list...and I included an oldie but goodie.

1. Jimmy Stewart (I love him!)
2. Alan Rickman
3. Denzel Washington (he is amazing)
4. Matthew Brodrick
5. Colin Ferrel

1. Kevin Spacey
2. Brad Pitt
3. Charleze Theron(I know I spelled her name wrong)
4. Renee Zelweger( also spelled her name wrong)
5. Ben Stiller

But this list isnt fair, cause there is so many I can name. So i tried to go for people who kinda rose up in the lime light in the past 5 years. I tried to avoid staples of the industrie, Like Samuel L. Jackson or Harvey Kietel who are Gods in my world.

Well, the Matrix stuff.

I want to flame, I really do. But I think having Reeves' name up there for all to see next to yours is punishment enough.

Then again, there is a difference between being an actor and a movie star. I've never once seen Keanu Reeves act, but the chicks dig him and that makes him a star.

Will Ferrel - I think he's the next Jim Carey. Hollywood seems to share my opinion.

Tom Hanks - While he's always been big, in the past few years he's really broadened his range.

Keira Knightly - After seeing Bend it Like Beckham and recognizing her from Star Wars, I made a mental note to look out for her in the future. A year and a half later, and she's already starring in a number of big flicks.

Russel Crowe - Without a doubt, one of the major powerhouses in LaLa Land.

Steve Buscemi - Why? Cause he's f*cking Steve Buscemi, that's why!

I think some of the criticisms lobbed against Reeves over the years have been kind of unfair. The man does have his limitations, I agree, but for the most part he always seems to choose roles that allow him to work very well within those limitations. I think he's done a fine job in all the Matrix flicks, and Point Break kicks ass.

If you havent seen Bill and Ted in a while, go back and take a look at this gem. Its a pretty [censored] funny movie.
As far and the best in the last 5 years, I dont think so. Unless this contest is based on best expressionless acting keanu isnt in the top 5, maybe top 50 but not top 5.

Is bend it like beckham anygood. Ive been meaning to check that out.

I agree with Matt1. I think he's done pretty well with the acting gifts he has. I was hesitant for a while to accept Brad Pitt's work, because his popularity also seemed to be largely based on looks; over the course of his career though, he has really branched out, and I am pleased with almost all of his movies. Now I have little hesitation about going to see a Reeves or Pitt movie, because they both seem to know what they are capable of doing, and do it well.

The moral here, in my opinion, is to not dismiss someone's entire body of work, just because they happen to be very popular because of their looks.

As a sidenote, at this point I'm a little doubtful of Troy, but we'll just have to wait and see if ole Brad pulls it off. I don't think any set of actors/actresses can do that story justice, but that's not going to stop them from trying.

Everyone who thinks Reeves completely sucks should go watch that scene in Reloaded with the architect again. Watch for the very slight inflections in tone and the subtle intimations of his body language. He says alot, without actually saying a whole lot.

I'm not saying the guy is Orson Welles or anything, but he is underated.

Look keanu may not be a great actor, but hes not a bad actor and I think that is what Matt1 is trying to say.

Also think of a bad Keanu movie, im not talking about one you dont like. I mean a keanu movie that didnt do well in the theatre. the only one I can think of is the one where he plays a serial killer and Even that made money cause people wanted to go see keanu be a bad guy. A role he has never played till that point.

There's actually too many to list. But I think some of the lower budget movies he's done have shown him at his best. Feeling Minnesotta comes to mind. And his portrayal of a wife beating redneck in The Gift was a high point in that movie.

[/ QUOTE ] I agree that I too didn't want to like Brad Pitt, but he's done some good character acting. All Keanu has done is play Ted in every movie. I'll admit when I was fourteen, I thought Point Break was cool, but when I saw it again when I was and I thought it was terrible, mainly because of Ted.

I prefer "Yeah, but I'm taller," from Speed. It's everything I need to hate him.

Sure. Even more proof that Mr. Reeves has no range. Subtlety, my ass. He's just one carreer move away from playing Joey on Friends .

Aww, come on, Point Break ruled. It featured John C. McGinley as the generic pissed off police captain. What else would you need?

Special Agent Utah! This is not some job flipping burgers at the local drive in! Yes, your surf board bothers me! Yes, your approach to this whole damn case bothers me! And yes, you bother me!

Know what though? I have to admit that with a very few exceptions, you are right about Reeves. All you need to do is see him in Dangerous Liaisons to know that. Nobody in their right mind would cast that guy in a period movie.

Robbo_the_Hood

I see your John C. McGinley and I raise you Parenthood : "We can record our love."

While that movie may be good, just more proof that he hasn't done anything else, except Ted.

I forgot about that movie. Damn that's funny! I already had to fold though. The only thing I could've raised with was from The Gift and even in that movie his character was a stereotype. "She's a witch."

You are all forgetting about his period piece "Much Ado About Nothing" which was much ado about nothing.

That little fit is classic.

I like when he gets on the bus and asking people to calm down like a cop would in that situation. Its quite amusing really.

But in responce to the long list, Really come up with some, I Tried and I couldnt think of a unsuccesful keanu movie.

I see your parenthood and I raise you Bram Stokers Dracula. lol

As much as Keanu sucked in Dracula, I still think Gary Oldman more than made up for it, making it a still very awesome movie. Gary Oldman kicks serious ass.

And, he gets to make out with Winona in the movie, the finest voman in all the empires of the vorld.

Dracula was good, but keanu shouldnt have been there. And thats the point I was trying to make earlier. Keanu blows but he always ends up in popular movies. It actually rather strange.

Droogan_Leader

Yeah, the only consolation is that Keanu's character was meant to be a tool anyway, so it worked out in the end!

Here's a little Keanu-spiracy for you. North to south you got Feeling Minnesotta, My Own Private Idaho, Special Agent Johnny Utah and he wasn't in Raising Arizona because Nick Cage framed him for practicing orthopedic surgery without a license. Conspiracy? You decide!
