This (http://www.opendemocracy.com/debates/article.jsp?id=8&debateId=101&articleId=1319) is a very interesting read for anyone interested in freedom particularly the current situation in China and the governments view on internet use and freedoms

Eventually the Internet will be less "free" and more monitored. The current climate over the WWW allows nefarious entities to abuse every possible exploit to world networks and information. This will be stopped (or at least serious efforts will be made) no matter the wishes of those who disagree. However, I can't imagine that a new Internet protocol will be adobted any time soon; maybe in 10 years.

Yeah, I think you got it right this time too. This is the only means of mass communication that isn't already directly regulated and taxed by the federal government. There is no doubt that some regulatory commission like the FCC or some semi-privatized business like Ma Bell or the USPS will be created to handle it. Too bad but maybe it's for the best. I mean, how else are they going to stop Mark in AZ from renegging on his Mitsubishi auction?
