Siberian scientists say they have a discovery on their hands which raises the possibility that the local legend of the yeti - the abominable snowman - is more than mere fiction.
According to Russian TV, the well-preserved furry limb of a mystery creature was found some 3,500 metres up in the permafrost of the Altay mountains, in Russia's remote Siberia region.

"I turned the limb over and examined the sole of the foot, and I thought it looked unsual," Sergey Semenov, the mountain-climber who made the find, said.

"So I decided to bring it back with me."

Scientific tests and X-rays show that the bones are several thousand years old, but attempts to identify the creature they belonged to remain inconclusive.

Whenever I'm in a particularly smart-ass kind of mood and people ask me what I want to do with my life, I always say, totally deadpan, "Cryptozoologist." Than I tell them what Cryptozoology is, and they stare at me cross.

These mythical animal hunts are always cool to read about, even if they're fake in the end. I know some family disclosed their bigfoot prank last year, apparently their grandfather walked through a muddy development site with big cut outs on his shoes, then reported the tracks and created a legend. Is the yeti supposed to be the Russian bigfoot, or an entirely different creature? The 'human likeness' makes it sound like a bigfoot relative.

Yeah its the Russian Equivalent there are also "alleged" bigfeet sightings in China, Brazil even Austrailia ?

I agree its just interesting stuff even if alot them are hoaxes, which is actually just as interesting that people do actually orchestrate elborate hoaxes!!

Perhaps Bigfoot is just a Rolling Stones groupie. It would explain the international sightings, and the really long hairs that Mick Jagger occaisionally pulls from his teeth.

Wise words indeed, infact the Yeti is believed to be linked to the rare, elusive beast known as Weapons of Mass Destruction.

[i]Not actually a fact just a theory
