Yes, I believe if you read Roger Ebert's review on the newest Quentin Tarrentino flick, you will see the statement that made me wonder about him. He said, "Strange, since women are not nearly as good at killing as men are. Maybe they're cast because the liberal media wants to see them succeed." Now how can you say that women are not as good at killing people as men? Isn't this the country of dumb [censored] who say that women can do anything men can do? Well let's see if this slides or if Ebert eventually gets bitched at by some feminists. I hope he does because this statement was just awful.

Ebert is a moron. I haven't listened to anything he has had to say for a very long time. I don't like most of the movie critics--they make it a point to talk out of their asses, in my opinion.

I wish I was paid full-time to go see movies. He has a sweet job, I mean, how cushy does it get? And he can't even do it right.

Movie critics should be there to give people the low-down on whether the movie is good, what is good/bad about it, and whether it's worth paying to go see it. Those are things I take into consideration when I go see a movie. Instead, they try to wax philosophical with their ivory tower opinions about moviemaking, as if they have all this inside knowledge that is unavailable to everybody else.

I don't think it's a very objective art, and I'm not surprised to hear him say something stupid like that. If I was going to be killed, I wouldn't mind dying at the hands of a beautiful woman. I think Uma kicked serious ass in that movie. And, good heroines are hard to come by--to the point that action movies with the typical male Rambo/Arnold main character have become drab enough to keep me as far away from those movies as possible.

So, f*ck Ebert, f*ck him up his stupid ass.

my main problem with movie critics is that there is no individuality and most of them appear to be pompus sheep toooo scared to say anything different to their peers!!

I mean most movie critics are supposed to state "THEIR" opinion on a film not the general consensous of movie executives? !

I think there is too much snobbery in film in general i mean look at "mallrats" just for example, a film alot of people on this site and all my friends love was roundly condemned in the critics columns for being "too low brow" listen up critics alot of people like "low brow" comedy from time too time!!

I'll give you an example i think Citizen Kane is a Great movie but i can count on one hand the number of times i watched it - Mallrats lost count

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding this as well, but I'm pretty sure he was making a play on Rush Limbaugh's statement that led him to quitting his ESPN job. It's practically word for word, except Limbaugh was talking about black football players.

But maybe not, and he really is a misogynist.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone were on Jimmy Kimmel in July or June and they were talking about Ebert. They were saying that all the summer movies had sucked but Ebert had given them all thumbs up. Then they said that he only liked the movies cause he got to eat candy and popcorn.

I believe he was parodying Rush as well. Ebert's reviews are typically written to be entertaining reads, usually with snarks jokes here and there. You don't have to agree with his motheds or his opinions, but his job, quite simply, is to voice his opinion and why. If you actually LOOKED, you'd see he gave the movie four stars, his highest rating.

This just proves that you have NO IDEA what Rush said... NO CLUE. Limbaugh said that a SPECIFIC black quarterback had been overrated because the media was afraid to trash any black quarterback (now) based on years of saying that blacks could not be quarterbacks.

What Limbaugh said wasn't racist in the least and I am waiting for some brave African American to come out and admit to that... Rush screwed up in that he didn't have a valid point because he had targetted THE WRONG black quarterback (dumbass). He deserved to lose his job just for being stupid.

Actually, I think he lost his job because of the whole pharmacy he's been running. Bad run of luck.

Limbaugh left ESPN because of this (manufactured) "racism" issue. His drug thing is another matter... but I am sure he can find his way out of it. I mean, the way things go now you can be president, governor, or some other famous profession, and still do incredibly stupid things and the public will forgive you... and in some cases, LOVE YOU FOR IT. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Woah, I never said that what Limbaugh said was racist. I simply said that Ebert was making a play on his statement. It is nearly word for word, is it not?
And I honestly think that what Limbaugh said was a bit blown out of proportion, and the worst he's guilty of is making a stupid statement at the wrong time. I wouldn't go so far as to call it racist.

There has already been at least one black person to come out and defend Rush's statement. He acknowledged that Rush was commenting on the press and not blacks.
