Since you responded so quickly to my question about old movies playing intheaters, I felt that the least I could do is read you newest column. Actually it is one of the columns I read weekly. In your review of "Head" you mentioned "The Kentucky Fried Movie," and it made me think of "The Groove Tube" which is in a similar vein and one of the funniest most sophmoric movies I have ever seen. I was just wondering if you had seen it and what your thoughts were.

No I haven't seen Groove Tube, but I should shouldn't I? I'll check if Netflix has it.
http://www.moviepoopshoot.com/gbu/21.html Read the column you spabooks! It's good for you! (Thanks for posting a link too btw)

The Groove Tube rules...well, it did when I was really young, anyway. It had a pre- or just-post-SNL Chevy Chase in it, if I recall.
Kentucky Fried Movie is great, too. It's no Scary Movie 3, but really funny.

What is the difference between "Plan 9" and "Turbulence 3"? /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
I'm just kidding... ok, now I'm interested in your answer? No wait, I'm not.
Damn, yes I am.

Actually Turbulence 3 is a thinly veiled retread of Plan 9. Its version of a plane (with concrete floors!) is slightly LESS convincing than Plan 9's.

Speaking of Scary Movie 3, can you explain how the joke on this poster is funny? I don't get it.
I can't get the image to show on the board, so you'll have to click here: http://www.empiremovies.com/posters/scary_movie_3_a.shtml
Well i'm not sure, but I think that Ashton Kutcher Punk'd some guy into getting a bad haircut, And as a revenge they are going to unleash this movie on the american public as the Ultimate Punk! oh, that Kelso, he's so funny.

Well it's obviously a play on Signs. This movie is leaving the world of scary movies behind and will be making fun of things like LOTR and Harry Potter. By the way for anyone who doesn't already know this, Scary Movie 4 was just greenlit for production.

I was referring more to the tagline ("This time it's personal") and how exactly that is funny. The other poster which spoofs The Ring has rings in the vague shape of some breasts and the tagline says "You'll die to see these rings." That I get. "This time it's personal" it just feels like I'm not getting it.

I understand, and in that sense I have no friggen clue why that poster should be funny lol.

I think they were going for the angle on how every sequel has to be 'this time it's personal' or 'the return' or something like that. It's become kind of cliched now, so I suppose they thought it would be humorous. I don't think they thought it through all that much.
If copyright law would have allowed it, I think "Scary Movie 3: Electric Boogaloo" would have looked a lot better. What DOESN'T "Electric Boogaloo" make funny. C'mon. Well. Maybe "Cancer: Electric Boogaloo" isn't that funny.
