Not the bestest song ever, but one that always gets me jazzed up and wanting to pick fights with the elderly.
Song 2 - Blur (The Woo Hoo! song)
Aaron

Yeah Song 2 was class back in the day
but then it got over-played and died
the true test of a song is one that is class but doesnt get picked up to advertise everything from video games to cars
It just turns into a jingle then...

Jumpin' Jack Flash- The Rolling Stones
All along the Watchtower- The Jimi Hendrix Experience
The End- The Doors (strictly for it's involvement in Apocalypse Now)
Bulls on Parade- Rage Against the Machine
California Love- Dr. Dre and Tupac Shakur
Seven Nation Army- The White Stripes (my favorite band right now)
So take your pick.
Subbacultcha - the Pixies
best song ever

It's good to see somebody bust out the Tupac. California Love is my favorite "it is getting summery out and I want to listen to summery music" song.

Tough call, harder than the favorite movie thing.
Some personal ones, for personal reasons:
Where the Streets Have No Name - U2
Stand By Me - Ben E. King
Kiss Them For Me _Siouxie & the Banshees
I Palindrome I - TMBG
Need You Tonight - INXS
and would the theme to Fraggle Rock be a song? Love it.

How we easily forget the Boss.
Thunder Road still does it for me. "You ain't a beauty, but hey you're all right."
Hey, Zens. They're playing our song. Hop in the Volvo

Thunder Road - the live version from 1975-1985 box set. Sigh...that song KILLS me in such a good way.
I am ready for my ride...as long as we agree "It's a town full of losers And I'm pulling out of here to win."

This (http://www.lemonysnicket.com/count.html) is the best song ever written...especially if you've read the books. Second best would be Stephen Lynch's (http://www.stephenlynch.com/) 'superhero, and 3rd is Adam Sandler's 'Somebody Kill Me Please' from 'The Wedding Singer'.

I like listening to the acoustic version of lifehouse's "hanging by a moment" all the time
"sway" by bic runga
"learn to fly" by the foo fighters
lastly, "where I find my heaven" but I forgot who sings that.

I really dig "My Hero" by the Foo Fighters. Although, I think I love everything by them. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Pretty much anything with Dave Grohl is good. It's nice to see a genuinely funny guy actually have talent, and I'm glad to see how well he's done after Nirvana. Since you don't really hear from Novoselic all that much.

Speaking of which... search the Internet (use Kazaa or something) for Dave doing "Tiny Dancer" on the Late, Late Show with Craig Kilborn. It is funny and sounds pretty good too.

He has it on his live album
Shit now I have to go put it on...

Pretty much the best song to me is Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd.
Anything off of The Wall, really. Hey You kind of ties it.

One can never go wrong with the Foo Fighters but I think we all forget the band which Dave Grohl came from (I think you've heard of them) Yeah, they're called NIRVANA!! Anthing from "smells like teen spirit" to "heart-shaped box" is good in my book.

I think my favorite is "Given to Fly" by Pearl Jam. Of course, you can't go wrong with Pearl Jam in my humble opinion.

Absolutely. Given To Fly is my all-time favorite song. It is such a well-written song. It is near-on magical.

God damn everyone keeps harping on about Nirvana
get over it
I mean [censored], people forget about the bands that were outselling them back in the day

Everyone? Seriously, I NEVER hear anyone talk about Nirvana.

I honestly don't here much about Nirvana either. But even if people were "harping" about Nirvana they would have just cause to do so. I agree that Pearl Jam and Soundgarden are both really great bands. But just not as good as Nirvana. I beleive Pearl Jam at one did out sell Nirvana... but Soundgarden? Don't think so. The Bestest song ever will remain "Smells Like Teen Spirit" in my book.

I don't even think that "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is the best song on Nevermind. "Something in the Way" is very swell.
Razorback
04-23-2003, 01:11 PM
Oh yeah... good choice.
RB
methinks the best Nirvana song is "sliver"- raw, intense, innocent.
The Bestest Song, in my opinion, is Jimi Hendrix "Voodoo Chile- Slight Return" There's that one line- "if I don't see you no more in this world/I'll meet you on te next one/don't be late" -gives me chills everytime I hear it. The conviction in Jimi's voice and guitar prove that he's waiting on the other side.

Yes, as Tuskinashi wisely said, Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd is the greatest song ever. The Wall is just too great. One or two stinkers (Goodbye Cruel World; Vera) but very likely the best album ever recorded...

Stephen Lynch is awesome. Just saw him live last week, and there were actually protesters outside of the show for the kitten song. Great stuff. Everyone should check him out.
