What website are you trying to link to? Some websites, like geocities, don't allow you to link to them like that.

According to your avatar, you are trying to put up a pic that is stored locally on your hard drive.
Is this the case? If so, look for some free image hosting service.
Sorry, but I don't have any on hand to suggest.
I remember Zens7 saying some good things about the one she uses.

Or you go check out sites that advertise avatars. That way, you can be sure that it'll work.
