It'll actually be a Batman movie, not an action movie with very Batman looks. I'm really hoping the whole Detective angle is front and center.

It was originally supposed to be directed by the amazingly talented, Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream, Pi) and was going to be written by Frank Miller. Aronofsky said at a Press Conference he wanted to shoot it for under $60,000! But, then Christopher Nolan (Memento, Insomnia) signed on to do the project with new writers. There's a long list of potential members to be cast as Bruce, Christian Bale being one of them. But, being the avid Dark Knight fan, I'm dissapointed. . .Guy Pearce would of handled the role well and the fact that Aronofsky is off the project is another down-note. Although, I'm still very thrilled about the entire premise.

as long as he doesn't take on bikers putting his fists, elbow and batarangs through their helmet visors, I got so sick of that being done to death in Equilibrium.

According to this article, it is sent in stone that Christian will play Bruce Wayne..He is a great actor and he was awesome along side Ewan McGregor (growl) in Velvet Goldmine.
Christian Bale to Play Next 'Batman'
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Holy casting news! An ``American Psycho'' has been picked to star as Bruce Wayne in a new ``Batman'' movie.
Christian Bale will don the cape and mask in a film that will chronicle the early career of The Dark Knight, Warner Bros. Pictures announced Thursday.
``Memento'' filmmaker Christopher Nolan will direct the movie, which is set to begin filming in early 2004.
``What I see in Christian is the ultimate embodiment of Bruce Wayne. He has exactly the balance of darkness and light that we were looking for,'' Nolan said in a statement.
Bale, 29, made his breakthrough in Steven Spielberg's ``Empire of the Sun'' in 1987, playing a boy trying to survive in a Japanese-run POW camp in China.
His other credits include ``Swing Kids'' (1993), ``Velvet Goldmine'' (1998) and ``Shaft'' (2000). Bale's most infamous role was as the yuppie serial-killer in 2000's ``American Psycho.''
Warner Bros. is trying to resurrect the ``Batman'' franchise. The character became a top box office draw after director Tim Burton and star Michael Keaton made two hit movies ``Batman'' (1989) and ``Batman Returns'' (1992).
The films got a little campier when Joel Schumacher took over for 1995's ``Batman Forever,'' with Val Kilmer as the Caped Crusader. The next installment, 1997's ``Batman & Robin,'' was a critical disaster that alienated many fans. It starred George Clooney.

Christian Bale is cool, especially in that flick equilibrium. But I think he's al little to boyish to be playing the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne. Robin maybe.

I didn't mean that in a negative sort of way. I just meant the the Batman.Bruce Wayne character calls for someone a little more ruggish and well, I find Bale a little too clean cut for that role.

Yeah, I thought the same about Michael Keaton starring in "Batman" and "Batman Returns". I think my best bet for Bruce/Batman is Guy Pearce, I think he'd nail the role and there would be no fear for potential tension on the set because Nolan has already worked with Pearce and they probably have a good rapport. If they were dealing with 80's Batman Christian Bale would be fine casted as Batman but a lot has changed in the last decad. The character has become more dark and mysterious, something I feel Bale couldn't pull off. (Especially the new Jim Lee "Batman", see below)

I'm not,but my boyfriend is. How the hell did you deduce that our friend here was a homosexual from that passge of text? nevermind.
Your right, Batman has become considerably more dark and mysteious over the years,(not that i read comics, but have read reveiws of compilations in Metal Hammer),so picking an actor would be a tough job. You wouldn't be able to use previous actors, they're either to old or too Hollywood. And you can forget drawing any influence from the 70's tv series. You'd need somebody who can convincingly pull off both generous millionaire, and lonley night walker. The film itself should be directed at an adult audience, which is what i believe went wrong with the previous films. Too colourful.
My choice of actor:Robert England. Just because nobody else would think it,and he did such a good job as Freddy Kruger, a poor preformance would always be forgiven.
How about this for a crossover; Freddy vrs Batman?

Yeah, they really bombed with the last two prequels. They were garbage. I don't wonder why Warner Bros. took this long to attempt to make another installment in the series, I mean Governer Arnold as Mr. Freeze??? What were they thinking? They really lost their fanbase on that one. Robert Englund donning the cape and tights as the Dark Knight? Interesting choice. Although, there's a face-off I'd like to see, Freddy vs. Batman. Eternal bliss for the horror and comic fans alike.
P.S. - You lost your chance, EternalStrife.

I acutally liked Batman forever, but Michael Keaton owns the role of batman. He will always be the best batman (well besides Adam West).
I think Ewan McGregor could pull off batman well too, but Christian Bale is hot and a great actor. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif Loved him in Shaft.
