I like when you review $20.00 games. They fit nicely into my budget. Damn you $50.00 Madden!

damn your $20 games, they tend to be a considerably hefty £30 here dammit.
Anyway the tick kicked ass, not as much as it could have but the sampled spoooon! was ace. I think the best possible comic tie in beat em up on snes though had to be spiderman: maximum carnage. Especially that rare move where you webbed two people either side of you and pulled them into each other.

The best for 20 dollars I ever bought was the Italian Job to PS.

I think SCII is...it just has so much to offer as a fighter. I just wish the PS2 version had slightly better graphics and not as much load times...the system is starting to show it's age.
PS3 won't be around until 2005.
Still, the PS2 version is the only one that comes with a Namco demo disc...

Well, if you had the best system on the market (XBOX), you could appreciate the lush and detailed graphics. Not like that crappy Playstation Boo.

Trouble with "best ever" games is that they rarely belong to a genre I am fond of anyway. Or theres something about them I just find I like more in other games, despite nice graphics. VF4 is okay for moves and SC2 is okay for non button bashing. But then thats always been the case with the "Soul" series anyway. even soulblade had a mode where you could only inflict damage when the enemy's feet weren't on the ground.

Here's an idea: If you like cheap games, invest in a used SNES (if you don't have one), and buy Killer Instinct.
I haven't seen very many fighting games since then that require players to actually know something. I got so tired of trying to get good at Tekken and other games, only to have some 5 year old kid come along with 2 quarters and choose Eddy, and of course whip out the cheesiest moves you can imagine.
On the cheese meter, most games nowadays rate way too high for me to even bother. And they're usually pretty expensive too. That goes for systems too.
Every once in a while I feel the urge to do a fatality on someone, and I'll pop in MK2, or KI, or Tekken or something. For the most part, though, I've given up on fighting games.
