Week of March 13, 2006

You can take "The Peacemaker," "Deep Impact," and "The Tuxedo." We'll take "Gladiator," "American Beauty" and anything else that didn't suck.

Emilio's 17

Yeah, like he needed all that overpriced crap anyway...

This lawsuit's going to make 'House Party' look like 'House Party Two!'

I told you... don't call me SENIOR!!

Maybe this is all a bad dream too?

Thanks Sharon, but I think I'll wait until this one comes out on DVD (so I can freeze frame of course)

There is absolutely, positively no nepotism in Hollywood. None.

You're good, baby, I'll give you that... but me? I'm magic.

This band will go down like a lead balloon

Well, Goodbye there Children...

They can't sell the Capitol Records building! What will be left to destroy in the next crappy 'end of the world' movie?

Same old Courtney - still sponging off Kurt

Panic on the streets of Austin

You're a fat, Botox faced, wig-wearing ninny! Oh yeah? Well your band has a dirty H addict as a lead singer!

THE POLYPHONIC SHOPPING SPREE CONTEST

November 24, 2003

[NOTE: This contest ended on December 1, 2003. Thanks to all entrants.]

MOVIE POOP SHOOT invites you to join the cult of the POLYPHONIC SPREE.

Really -- according to the Dallas Morning News, the band THE POLYPHONIC SPREE, the new 22-piece ensemble that sprung up from the mind of former TRIPPING DAISY singer Tim DeLaughter, "...looks like a cult and sounds like Pink Floyd crossed with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir."

Not only do we want you to experience the unique sound of the SPREE, but we want to outfit one winner in an actual SPREE robe.

First, some background on the band:

THE POLYPHONIC SPREE is more than a 22-person ensemble in white robes, more than a massive orchestra of stringed instruments and horns and theremins, more than a psychedelic pop band. THE POLYPHONIC SPREE is sonic proof that broken hearts can break hearts open, that life regenerates and shines, that one adventurous voice (or two dozen) can change the world. THE POLYPHONIC SPREE can claim an album's worth of songs, but their spiritual stake in the ground runs deeper than any needle can groove. THE POLYPHONIC SPREE leaves behind a shimmering wake of smiles and sunshine footsteps. Now, more than ever, music makes a difference.

THE PRIZES

ONE Grand-Prize Winner will receive:
An authentic POLYPHONIC SPREE white robe (one size better fit all)
and
A copy of the SPREE's debut CD, The Beginning Stages of...The Polyphonic Spree (which also includes a special 4-song bonus CD featuring live and alternate versions of the songs "Have a Day," "It's the Sun," "Soldier Girl" and "Light & Day."

TWO Runner's-Up will receive:
A copy of the SPREE's debut CD, The Beginning Stages of...The Polyphonic Spree (and bonus disc).

TO ENTER

Send an e-mail to me with the following information:

Subject: Polyphonic Shopping Spree
Body: Simply tell me what SPREE song was featured in a recent commercial, and what product the commercial was for.

That's it! Winners will be chosen at random from the correct entries.

THE PARTICULARS

  • The contest is open to residents of the continental United States only.
  • Also, you must be old enough to wear a cult-like robe and not fear parental reprisal.
  • You must enjoy music that is influenced by Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Brian Wilson and other lush, orchestral larger-than-life music experiments.
  • You must own and be able to operate a computer, or else be persuasive enough to convince a friend and/or family member to enter for you.

    That's it!

    TIMING

The contest will run from the time you read this (assuming you read this before the contest ends) until midnight on Monday, December 1. All entries must be received by this time for consideration and to avoid relentless mocking from the MPS staff.

We reserve the right to blah blah blah, and all decisions are blah blah. For a full list of rules, click blah blah blah.

If you've never heard of THE POLYPHONIC SPREE and would like to experience some new music, or if you're familiar with the band and would like to catch the new video for their song "Light and Day," or maybe you just like clicking live links, we recommend you click here (Windows Media High) or here (Windows Media low).

For you Real Player users, you can view the video High or Low.

And finally, Quicktime high and Quicktime low.

    Their audio player.
