Man, what the hell was that?! The first commentary I ever listened to was Clerks. You got me addicted to commentaries. Your voice had been with me for years while I watched my favorite movies. I’ve always found you to be intelligent and witty and you seem like a wonderful all around kind of guy. I haven’t been able to watch movies lately because my partner isn’t into them and I’ve missed you. But this was just depressing. I’m not sure what’s even happened the last two years, have you smoked yourself stupid?? I’m just… I don’t even have words.

I don’t have a problem with the pot smoking at all, but I find the better podcasts deal with things in and around film. I find very interesting what shows they watch and theories they have.
I am a huge dvd / Blu-ray colector myself, and it is fun hearing kevin talk about his collection. PS- I picked up “viva knievel” on dvd yesterday for $3. I watched that as a kid and I am ready for some serious bad movie watching!

I know this probably won’t filter down to Kevin Smith or Bryan Johnson, but I’m too cheap to pay the measly two bucks for registering on the View Askew forum (not having a job and all) but I have to say it so it’s said.
I pose this question about this SMod: How do you know you want to get into chemistry or algebra or whatever if you don’t take at least the introductory classes? You’re not really going to see what they are from the basic classes in elementary/middle school. So the classes in High School are to give direction to the students, so they know “this isn’t for me” or “holy crap, I like this! I want to pursue this!”

Yo, I commented a few weeks back that Smith needs to not start the show high, I take it back. He can do whatever he wants, the last few smods have been great! I think I realized what irritated me was him laughing, nay, weezing at jokes in his head he hadn’t told yet, and then his laughter would totally ruin the delivery to the point you couldn’t understand him.
So the thing is he’s cleaned up his composure, so he can be as high as he wants, as long as he remembers the listener.

I don’t think I can keep my silence any longer. Though I’m no hardcore fan, I do like hockey and I’ve followed it most of my life. And I’m not here to piss all over Wayne Gretzky who is one of the greatest players ever, second best probably. But lets be honest here… he never played for the Detroit Red Wings. Had he done so, he would have taken a back seat to Steve Yzerman. Gretzky himself admits as much and says not playing for the Wings was one of the great regrets of his career. I guess it’s debatable who was better, but Kev could at least mention Yzerman sometimes instead of just ignoring him totally. Just saying.

Dave, you’re a fucking moron. Yzerman vs. Gretzky? No competition. Yzerman was one of the best players ever, but come on, you can’t even put him in the equation for absolute best ever. The guy was dominant for only half of his career. He was a great leader, but he certainly wasn’t leading by example anymore after about ‘94. He played a very important role on those cup winning teams, but he wasn’t even the best player on his team for some of those wins, let alone best in the league, or even best of all time. I have to say something about the math, I sucked at math in high school, never had any use for it. I went back to school a few years later and had to take it all again at the college level, it still wasn’t easy for me, but I stuck with it and found a use for it. I use algebra in daily life, but geomotry is even more inportant to me - I work on race cars and everything is based in math. When I was in school I didn’t know what I didn’t know, and if I could do it all again I would study a little harder, and party a little less. Math and English (Grammar especially) but fuck chemistry. I squeaked through it with a high D and have never used anything I learned in that class.

Not to jump all over you, but please, get your shit together before you make a comparison like that. Gretzky had more points for assists alone than anyone has ever had for goals and assists combined.
Here you go: Regular season points? Gretzky 1st, Yzerman 6th, a full 1,000 points behind. #2 on the list is Messier, who is almost as far behind (970 or so).
Regular season goals? Gretzky 1st, Yzerman 8th - 202 goals behind.
Regular season assists? Gretzky 1st, Yzerman 7th - 900 assists difference.
I could go on and on… Gretzky dominated the league and as much as I respect and like Yzerman, he’s no Gretzky.
And by the way, I think Gretzky has wanted to play for just about every original 6 team. He apparently wanted to retire as a Leaf, but the organization screwed the pooch on that one, or so the story goes.

3. Never ever refer to hockey as ice hockey. Hockey is hockey and yes in its purest ,most wonderful form it is played on ice. Therefore all other forms of hockey must be differentiated from real hockey using words like ball, street, floor, roller, table and field. The only people who refer to hockey as ice hockey are sad idiotic morons from europe and or jackasses that think Yzerman is anywhere close to The Great One !!!

1) I love smodcast. Its not Relevant? Its so not relevant that I’m here nearly daily in hopes they might post a new one. Is it as good without Mos? No. Do I want more Jay and/or Jen? Yes. But that’s like syaing.. oh.. this one was only a 8/10 instead of a 9.. its one of the best ‘casts out there, so deal.
2) PLEASE mention other casts. Its hard to find ones I would like by just searching iTunes or Podcast alley - there’s too much to wade thru.. I want to hear from fans of this show what casts are a lot like this show. (especially since my 3 longtime faves are putting them out like every month now.. I’m looking at you, Make It So)
And for the record, http://www.suckcast.com has a cast that follows this format, and its a pretty good fill between weeks. I also like GeeksOn and the Lost Podcast with Jay and Jack.
